Yeah starting with the original switch I just started buying less games and I haven't even gotten a switch 2. They're slowly killing my passion for their games with their decisions. I just don't see the point anymore. Their interesting games never get sequels it's always just mario slop. The few big IPs left they had have basically all become the same. Big wide open area third person 3D platforming/exploration kind of thing. I'm not saying it's bad but the series all feel the same now. Then all the new monetization feels a bit much. I'm just not feeling it. I think the only way they bring me back is if they release a sequel to an old IP out of left field or something.

Reporting in. It's not about grandstanding or anything. I just don't think the software is valuable enough to justify the price point anymore. The Switch's 1st/2nd party lineup kind of sucked, and the company refuses to sell retro games to me. There's very little for me in that locked down environment.

Great for "Smash purists" if they still exist, but if you're expecting anything at or above the level of Ultimate, it's not going to happen. Sakurai specifically said he wanted to make it the best it could possibly be regardless of what it took to honor Iwata. Nobody is doing that shit for Furukawa who knows people will buy up Smash no matter what anyway just like they do, and continue to do, with Mario Kart.

Only Melee works "competitively" and Sakurai has always hated it. There is a less than zero chance that the new Smash will make competitive play an aspect of the development process. Considering apparently Sakurai also hated that the cutscenes for Subspace Emissary eventually showed up on YouTube just like with every other game ever made, when Sakurai's character reveal trailers are basically the solution to that, so I really doubt single player is going to be that involved. QoL might be something though.
