The west is collectively losing interest, WuWa barely got a reaction compared to ToF during peak Genshin popularity.

No, gacha is just another type of game. In fact I'd say hoyoslop is generally the shittiest kind of gacha design, where you have to roll a character several times before they're the actual character you rolled and not a shitty knockoff. They attach the shitty gacha to something that normalfags think of as "a real game" like open world action or RPG, and it blows their minds.

So i started playing this today and am getting a feel for how you combo between characters. I kicked out Kyle for Noelle and have zero regrets. Will i unlock a hottie that uses a spear or do i need to roll for that? And if i need to roll where should i choose to roll and can i swap my primogems for rolls?

Sorry, I'm used to Arknights where if there is a bonus for rolling a dupe, it's a single non-combat stat going up. Seeing actual functional numbers that might be a significant part of a character's identity be locked behind fucking dupes makes my skin crawl.

constellations only make these characters ultra ridiculous, where they will just delete everything in the game with no effort

Yeah that's the thing, the fact that dupes have an actual purpose to roll them fucks up the fundamental way I evaluate the state of my account and what sort of new units I should be rolling for. In a non-hoyo gacha, I just have to save up until the next limited, and I'll pretty much be guaranteed to reach pity and get the target limited, as well as probably some of the stuff I've missed from the past few months. Hoyo stuff seems handcrafted to make that style of play feel wrong, like I'm supposed to be maximizing a banner even harder if I've already chosen to roll on it.

If Genshin was a full game (as in, I could own it after servers shut down), with characters/pulls being a side thing, I would actually want to play it.
I don't even mind that it's a BotW clone, just the fact most if not all Gacha (even with the longevity of WoW), will inevitably die.

Anon, I'd rather support more Stellar Blades than Nikkes, even when both are from the same company. If I really liked a movie, I'll download it OR get it on DVD (alternatively hoard it on digital). That way I can revisit it way down the line.
If Genshin shut down next year, what will the fans have to show for it except some bleed bank accounts and a ton of sunken cost fallacy? You say miserable, but even I can jump back into a WoW or Maplestory private server TODAY. There were two mobile JoJo gachas that were decent, that I can't even play through the main campaigns of anymore.
Where's the fun in that?

The only pros, aside from aesthetics, I've seen from Gacha games, is live updates acting as pseudo expansion packs to the game. But again, what good is all that if you're never going to be able to experience it again, as apposed to every other type of game not victim to GaaS models?

While I want to say gacha is ok, they're getting worse. Lot of gacha being lazy because they know they can get away with it. Generic combat with no improvement or identity. You'd think Hoyo or Kuro would improve after making action games for so long. Neither have improved in the combat aspect since HI3 and PGR. The shills will just excuse this with "the gameplay is the exploration". They aren't trying to make content or release materials outside of the game, either, multimedia just isn't a thing for chink gacha so it ruins the potential of gacha. They also don't like collabs, after Hoyo and their failed Aloy. Other gacha devs are gonna follow this lazy formula because they see a few companies getting away with it. Put in generic hack'n'slash gameplay, maybe put in one interesting mechanic they saw in another game, make it open world and give tons of repititive things to do and collect so they have a timewasters, story will be generic that no one outside the gacha will like, they won't give you the gacha anime or mix media contents anymore or do good collabs, that'll be the upcoming trend of gacha.

As a millennial playing this game on an iPad mini. I feel like a zoomer using the touch controls.
