Dark Souls is still a relatively niche game in the grand scheme of things. Maybe not Elden Ring or even Bloodborne, but the Souls trilogy and Sekiro are still pretty unknown in the normie sphere. The Internet makes it seem like everybody has played these games but in actuality they're still considered too hardcore by the average casual gamer. There's nothing wrong with this, I just think it's worth pointing out that online discussions about Dark Souls (and soulslikes in general) presents it as having way more cultural relevance than it really does.

Shut the fuck up.
Demons' Souls is the only niche one, and even that is probably not true anymore since the PS5 remake.
They're all the same fucking game. The DS trilogy is normie, """niche""" games are niche if they appeal to a small subset of humans, which isn't the same as just being not popular. Dark Souls games are not popular but elden ring proved they are not niche. It's hilarious watching all you fromfags explode at the fact that your favorite game series is basic and normalfag. Same thing with yakuza bros
