Obviously the first handheld model is always going to be awful, because that's the easiest place to cut the price and Nintendo sells budget consoles. If you care deeply about handheld performance you always want to wait for a revision. This was the case on the gameboy, GBA, DS, 3DS and Switch, so obviously it's the case here too. Buy the console right now if you mainly play docked. If you're a handheld player wait 2-3 years for the revision that gives you an improved screen and double the battery for the same price. I remember seeing this when I got a laptop that had a 120hz screen, but it was so blurry that it didn't even look that fast. Comparing it to my 120hz monitor was like night and day.
