how did these games convince the mainstream to play turn-based games?
By not being social poison anime drivel.
>non-shit graphics
>release in a desert of other options
literally that simple
>>713915086>>713915094this.
all you need is no tranime.
>>713914780 (OP)It's easier for girls to have pause during the combats
what the other Anons said, and it has white characters that people like
>>713914780 (OP)women loved both of them, especially e33 for some reason.
>>713914780 (OP)Both were basically dream games that the devs actually wanted to make and it shows through just playing.
>>713914780 (OP)>mainstreami doubt fifa, cod, gta console fags are playing those games
>enjoy the game
>recommend it to a friend
>>713914780 (OP)By being good games that are fun to play. It's that simple.
>>713914780 (OP)Decent story and full single-player experience of a niche genre that hasn't been catered too as much lately.
Also BG3 somehow managed to make the most boring melee classes of D&D fun by simply giving you the option to shove or throw people into and off of shit.
They're walk and talk cutscene sims for 60 IQ third worlders and have nothing to do with gameplay
By employing effective gimmickechanics to catch the player's attention, between E33's pictos and QTE, and BG3's tactical board system allowing for enviromental interactions
>>713915359Yeah, it sounds schmaltzy but you really can feel that people behind these games were making them because they enjoyed that style of game, while also ignoring any higher-ups in suits telling them it was a bad idea.
>>713915648Recommend something better from the past few years.
>>713914780 (OP)BG3 is the first real RPG after 10 years.
e33 has one of the best stories among video games.
>>713914780 (OP)Twitch parasocial friend hype, look at the amount of people who completed bg3 after the years it has been out, it's abysmally low, they didn't like these games.
>>713915913does E33 even explain why there's monsters in the game?
>>713915750There's a moment of true beauty when you play a game and think of something, and then either an aspect of the gameplay or a situation/character actually expresses it that shows you these people know these games and play them as you would.
>>713915086>it's feet and sex, basically There's a huge demand for rpg and literally not a single good entry in recent years
>>713914780 (OP)Because you also didn't have to read walls of text, fully voiced dialogue.
>>713916190Did you... play the game?
appealing to women, that's literally it
>>713916727That is a lot bigger detail than people might admit. You can have brilliant storytelling and prose, but a lot of people will still bounce off of it if it's told as multiple chapters of a silent, full-length book to get through in-between the occasional combat encounter.
>>713918368Then why ask about that specific detail?
>>713918631Ah. Go play the game then it's pretty good.
BG3 gives you an amazing illusion of freedom and reactivity.
E33 gives you a curated, mostly linear experience reminiscent of old jrpgs without looking like moder jrpgs. Also the parry goes a long way to make people play it.
>>713914780 (OP)Real unironic actual answer:
TTRPGs saw a huge resurgence in popularity in the normiesphere during the worldwide COVID psyop. In the case of BG3 at least the interest was already there for a competently developed CRPG.
>>713914780 (OP)I don't think there's any need to convince people to like a good game.
Meanwhile look at how hard Square and Bioware try to convince people "NO NO NO NO YOU DON'T LIKE TURN BASED ANYMORE YOU LIKE THIS INSTEAD BECAUSE IT'S REAL TIME"
>>713914780 (OP)the turn based was never the problem, the problem was the jap slop
