Realistically speaking, they would have always done an autopsy in a case like this. This is standard procedure. The medical examiner would have also noticed the trauma from the fall immediately. You can't write this up to the police being incompetent. It's probably a legal requirement too.

It was done for shock value. Literally 13 year old writing a twist story. The corpse was of a teenage girl around 15. That would put her at 115lbs give or take. Now as an experiment go lie down on the floor and imagine asking your kid siblings to lift you up, let alone carry you. It's impossible, even with two kids. Shit makes no sense and the plot is bad.

Now that I gave you that thought experiment the entire game falls apart. Preteen kids simply cannot carry a teenager body around town, least of all without getting caught. Prepping it on a noose is also going to incur more weight. Think about an arm wrestling contest between you as an adult and a bunch of kids, you don't have to exert a lot of strength to maintain a grip. Apply that logic to gravity pulling down a corpse.
