Mega Man Zero, like all inti-creates games except for MM9 and MM10, are ruined by stupid fucking RPG elements when they could easily be 10/10 arcade action games if they didn't bother with that shit.

ive been replaying this game recently non stop and im starting to have megaman x dreams
this is one of those "mythical games" like quake or tetris
everything about megaman x is mathematically perfect
although a piece of the original is lost in modern day releases. the need to write your password down in the real world means this game had you doing number magik at an early age

i have come to the conclusion that every high society will eventually create a "megaman x" game

Because X1 is just reasonably good while the MMZ games overcomplicates almost everything X got right? Elves, EX skills, weapon leveling and ranking autism all feel like their at ends with one another, and it's very telling that as the series went on it continually simplified the impact of, and sometimes outright removed these mechanics. Z is a case study of fixing what isn't broken, though in its defense X was a very lost and broken series by the time Z got around to even existing.

I feel like Megaman X 1, 2, and 3 are among the top tier of fun and innovative game design. Zero is a fun series, but it's more straightforward and focused on combat rather than just playing a fun level where you get to ride a mine cart and stuff or the ride armors providing a fun little powerup.

>Mega Man Zero series
>lose one time to a boss
>game lets you continue playing, but you are doomed to a bad ending
>the only way to prevent this is manually reloading last save before lose
>takes multiple tries to practice each boss
>have to reload everytime for reasons said above
>story is unnecessarily "grimdark"
>screen is small, no human has enough reaction time for the rolling enemies coming at you while you run
>entire game is built around trial and error traps
>entire game is trash, only carried by nostalgia and cute designs

X3 isn't, it was outsourced to the Game Boy MM team and you could tell they weren't up to the same snuff as the A team that made X1/2.

Because it's better? The Zero games just regurgitate the same formula with a bunch of arbitrary restrictions because the developers are tryhard speedrunners
>you will NOT use E-tanks!
>you will NOT use health upgrades!
>you will NOT upgrade your defense!
Etc.

All that shit is just handicaps while you're learning the game, because it's eay harder than other Mega Man series. It's not like classic/X dogshit where the game is balanced around using it.

Mega man zero levels are fucking tiny so it's basically just a boss rush game. While X is a proper platformer

Megaman as a franchise peaked with the Mega Man X series for SNES. It was only every subpar bullshit afterwards.

Battle link had potential but it was so watered down it absolutely crashed and burned.

Because a multitude of those action platformers were built off the backs of the classic and X games. Entries like MM2 and MMX are action platformer 101, if you like the genre then you've played them.
