That recent new Gundam really sucked. I'm not wrong on that, right? Sure, I liked the nod to the old style but that makes sense since it's referencing an old Gundam episode. but then the reveal is just that it's multiverse shenanigans where Lalah is infintely suffering seeing Char die so she just creates a new world in the process. The finally break the cycle and can hopefully diverge into different paths if they ever make a sequel to it. I haven't watched the original they are taking inspiration for this series but I would guess it's fun to see what-if scenarios play out. What was really aggrevating was that the 2 main girl characters we were to follow sucked and were under developed. They were just pawn pieces to set up this multiverse thing happening and for calls back to the old show. I really didn't like GQuuuuuux however many u's are in there.

But I really liked Beltorchika's Children a lot more than the movie. I felt like we got to be with the characters more. I wish there was more mention of why Char made his face heel turn, but the work also drives home a lot more what Char's overall feelings of what he's doing is, if not completely why he's made these choices.

Yeah, there's a definite feel in the movie that they're just kind of speeding things along. I often think Tomino's stuff is really more comfortable in a medium that can let you linger on things longer, like books or comics. I really enjoyed my time a lot more in nearly everything with the manga, and I rather liked the movie. It was alright, pretty much just a self contained little AU of "what if" it shows a bit of how things would be different if Zeon won, though I don't feel it entirely justifies some of it's changes, or why other things stay the same when they shouldn't. only 12 episodes, so it's nice and short and to the point.
