Good. Thank fuck. I'm not the other guy btw, and I'd argue there was no good reason to bring up GNU/Linux in this thread, but it happened and people are going to seethe uncontrollably anyway, so I might as well comment. Works on my machine. Stay on Windows though. An operating system is just a tool and if the one you're using does its job to your satisfaction then there's no reason to install another one. Linux is for people who hate Windows, and Linux gaming is for gamers who hate Windows. Simple as.

Based as hell, anon. 2012 was peak hype-Max Payne 3, Dishonored, Borderlands 2, and modding Skyrim into Oblivion 2.0. That was the golden age of Steam sales too, when you'd drop five bucks and come back with six GOTY editions. Finally moving off integrated graphics felt like a cheat code-just seeing shadows in games was magic.

Vista hate originally spawned because there were a million ghetto printers, scanners, and other devices with dodgy old drivers. When Vista came out, drivers were required to be signed, and a lot of those chinese devices didn't ever get driver updates to support it. It left a lot of people in the lurch, and that spread to normie tech news sites like CNET. Normies latched on to the fervor, and declared that Vista would delete all your files and rape your children.

The reality: Vista was actually pretty solid, and brought in the GPU accelerated compositor, which made everything snappy. It was also the first solid 64-bit desktop Windows (as XP 64-bit was a clusterfuck of duplicated services and applications, among other stupid shit).

I still have the damn thing for playing older games, it's a beast.
For reference these are the parents who got me a wii with twilight princess after I asked for a ps2 with okami because "it's about a wolf, we thought they were the same game"

in windows 11 they just moved shit around and made it overall worse to use. i like some of the poorly documented windows key shortcuts though, that they've only just introduced like 4 years after windows 11 launched lmao.
the application taskbar progress bar sums up what a downgrade 11 is, and they've slightly attempted to make it better but it still sucks compared to decade old implementation. look my piccie, bottom is so much more clear. old really is good, new really is bad.

Basically this. Another simple way to put it was that vista needed modern hardware at the time, and xp-era/legacy hardware wasn't cutting it.

People that bought a "Vista-capable" pc virtually had no problems. These Vista low-end e-machine pcs, to the real nice Dell XPS stations: they all handled Vista well. Genuinely another case of the shit just working. The ones that were mad and flocked back to xp did so with same the dated hardware they had before. Reasonably so. No one wants to accept this, but the jump to 11 is like Vista, and these poorfags are like the old xp fags.

The simplification of logos is just making it more obvious that trademark mostly exists to enable corporate fraud by allowing corporations to steal the face of the thing that they have acquired and continue to market it under that brand, all while slashing maintenance and production costs.
The simpler the logo, the more fraudulent the company.
