Unironically this, i've been somewhat thrown off after playing with a good AI for a few months and going back to reading VNs, the ability to just punch one character if he's acting like a Nigger is great, i hope that the integration between text and image gen comes together soon

Gotta be some limitations or something. I think having a shared experience is pretty important for quality/discussion.

Visual novels evolved into gacha games. But the storytelling in gacha games has absolute abysmal pacing across the board, as the intent is to drag a story out for the life of its run rather than giving you a complete product from the start.

You can just have visual novel-style interactions with AI through SillyTavern now. I couldn't get the damn ComfyUI workflow someone made to work to generate the sprites for changing expressions so I haven't done it yet.

why no one made a VN that uses AI to generate characters dialogue?
is running AI models locally (as it comes preloaded with the VN) impossible?

Not impossible, but the VRAM needed to quickly generate good text is cost-prohibitive right now. You can't just assume that people will have it. Even a 5090 is somewhat limited with only 32GB of VRAM. Like I am mainly using a shitty small quant of a 70B model right now. Works pretty well, but that is the absolute limit of what I can do.

d4g is the final part of a mystery series so it does require two games of pre-investment but they're both pretty short and it's pure mystery no filler. it's a lot like the older infinity games. synesthesia so far feels like I/O or root double but condensed down to less than 10 hours

good luck with root double, i hear it's up its ass with how long it takes to deliver what it does, too much talking and exposition dumps after expo dumps. one thing I've been liking about EVNs is that many of them are 10-20 hours and get to the point without fucking around.

>if you want to include a fight scene stop making it a bunch of sprites being dragged around or shaking
>maybe include some semblance of a game between dialogues, like a card game or a pseudo flash game
or if budget allows it go the school days route and make the entire thing an anime

I'm still early so I can't say much, but it's pretty fun so far. There's a lot of choices, but you can't save during these junctures. Other than that I can't say much about the structure of the VN yet. There's been some simple minigames that determine how well the MC did in a couple fights too. In terms of production values it actually looks really good and everyone other than the MC has voice acting. It seems to have a focus on comedy in addition to romancing one of the heroines.

Someone made an escape room game with an obsessive AI girlfriend. The whole point is to chat and convince her to open the door. upset her too much and she kills you.

Visual novels were never an alive genre to begin with.
Only failed writers work their way into VNs because VNs mask a lot of the flaws of "real" writing and allows retarded hackjobs to pass off garbage as high art.

Reincarnation is basically an extended epilogue but it provides some decent closure, the prequel is really good though
