Like most things in life, it depends on the dosage. Some amount of escapism can contribute to a healthy psyche, giving your brain room to breathe and process things.

Depends what you define as escapism.
The most radical may even argue that any form of fun is escapism. However, man is not a machine, it needs a form of respite, a break from the daily grind. Without it, man is bound to break.
Likewise, even the opposite of the argument, the turbo hikki neets can't sustain said lifestyle. Eventually, whatever money they are leeching off is going to run out and their are going to have to 'face reality' (or kill themselves).
>Tldr
Everyone needs a break, but most can't afford to live in an eternal state of escapsim.

Only if you're unwilling to escape the escapism when it's appropriate
Indulging in escapism is fine as long as you can then say "ok that's enough of that, time to get back to real life"
Like how drinking is totally fine as long as you can stop

>"STOP PLAYING GAMES AND GO TO FUCKING WORK GOY"
>Actually stop playing games to search for a job
>send a whole bunch of resumes to different places, none of which required any experience
>zero calls
Yeah I'm going back to vidya. Fuck this "reality".
Call me when the economy stops being fake and gay and they actually need people to work.

It's not fine, it's coping mechanism. We're designed start fucking as soon as we enter puberty and have kids, not wait until we're decades older. We're designed to chase animals, and eat their raw guts, brains, and drink their blood. We're not designed to work for money which doesn't even exist, and then spend it on plant "food" which we can't even properly digest. Civilization is a cancer on the human race.

In unhealthy amounts? Yes.
Read a book or go outside and lay on the grass if it's dry.
Go for a run, fix or make something, excel at a job you like doing (or at least pays well enough without destroying your soul)

Escapism is one of the few things preventing me from putting a gun between my teeth. Life is horrible and without video games/movies/books/tv, there's barely any point of getting out of bed

>Read a book
A technical manual, right?
>or go outside and lay on the grass if it's dry.
>Go for a run
To exercise, right?
Otherwise that's escapism too. Like conversing on the Internet for non-pragmatic purposes (networking, business, education and so on).

Escapism and fantasy is a good thing, how boring must one be to not like that. I assume it's the same kind of "people" with no inner monologue that cannot imagine an apple in 3d

No different from using drugs, and just as addictive if not more since you're "sober" throughout. At least cocaine makes you more productive. Games just lead to health complications like Playstation thumb and a bad back, while anime makes you antisocial and a gooner.
