Dead. Last good Halo was Reach. 4 was fun for multiplayer but 5 fucking ruined everything.
Last good written Halo was unironically Halo Wars 2, which wasn't even made by 343.

I keep forgetting that I have the collection on Steam, never played any Halo game.
With that said, that era were Halo was crazy popular is something I don't think will ever come back.

Why not give them a try? Just don't play Halo 2 on Legendary that's asking for a bad time.

Surprisingly, more like his Bungie-era self. We'll see if Pierre pushes him all the way back to being cool and collected.
Hopefully Halo Studios realizes you can replaced "Sprint" with just a general ability to move faster in ALL directions, with the trade-off being less stable/precise shots. This would be more similar to Halo pre-Sprint where you could shoot while moving at the maximum speed, except now that maximum is higher and comes with an accuracy penalty.
What system/stats they'd use to achieve this would take playtesting, but it's not more effort than it took to playtest new abilities + 2 abilities at once for 4, new abilities + over 5 at once in 5 and so on.

Halo is Gen X/Millennial core. Zoomers don't give a shit about Halo aside from grifting on ODST, but then they just swapped to Helldivers 2. The core fanbase for Halo (i.e. Gen X/Millennials) have long since stopped caring about the franchise, knowing that it's beyond redemption at this point after three godawful games. Zoomers don't play any shooters aside from Fortnite, so it's effectively a dead franchise made for no one at this point. Microsoft can't comprehend why Halo isn't on top of the world anymore despite all the shit they throw at it.

>Microsoft can't comprehend
Feels worse than that - feels more like they're just content to make money off it until it's fully dead rather than rub some brain cells together to tap into its potential
Not even talking about it being #1 just way better off than it is right now

I loved all the Easter eggs in the old games. The scarab gun, even the signs changing on certain days in multiplayer. Why donโ€™t games have cool shit anymore

I heavily believe Halo's future along with the rest of Microsoft's first party games future is the same as their hardware. Microsoft will have first party teams to lead the game development but the actual development is handled by third parties through outsourcing as Microsoft hates doing first party work themselves and rather someone else do it for them.

Pierre has said before he wishes there were less white men in the room and tragically I would meet his requirement of wanting more browns around
The only thing is I don't know if people working on Halo will ever again be allowed to focus on Halo first, trends second
It's very sad considering Halo was doubted at first for not seeming like the most trendy thing and then defied the expectations of people at Microsoft, Bungie and the wider gaming world

Pretty much dead and gone. There are some danger-hairs working on new game last I heard but it'll probably suck as much as Infinite did, if not worse.

343 Will once again learn from their mistakes and announce a new game. Halo will be so back baby you'll think it never left.
Then it'll come out and it'll be yet another stinker.
The cycle continues.
