I grew up with all of these games and up until people started having nostalgia for TTYD, it was never seen as really better or worse from what I remember. I definitely didn't see it that way, and I enjoyed it, but I always preferred SMRPG and superstar saga. There's just something extremely dull about Paper Mario's world to me. TTYD didn't used to be worshiped like this and I just have to assume you're a zoomer faggot. If I'm being completely honest, A LOT of people disliked TTYD upon release because they felt the characters in Paper Mario (64) were way fucking better but I don't want to exaggerate too much so I will still say TTYD is a good game.

I despise the fact that this game hasn't been ported even once across 20 years. I think it's a good game. But it's one of those games that will never experience quality discussion because it cultivated a group of dedicated autists and a group whose opinions were informed by video essayists + reactions to the actions of dedicated autists. Then you have the fact that Paper Mario is a shit show of a IP. Discussion of the actual game is gets lost in all that.
