Why is this so disliked? It's just like the PS1 trilogy, except more vehicle-focused, not as difficult, and with a different style of graphics/music

There's way too many gimmick levels in this one plus, idk what it is but something feels off about the gameplay like as if Crash is more slippery than it was on the PS1/N-Sane Trilogy. I think the next game Crash Twinsanity was a much better game than this.

Because it is a much worse version of the PS1 trilogy in every way, the collectibles are now just annoying chores instead of fun, the game is easy outside of what feels like cheap deaths because of hitboxes and shitty physics/controls, the level design is bad, everything about the game is trash, a typical badly designed Traveller's tales platformer (though Mickey Mania and Toy Story 2 was fun) but with their bad game design shoehorned into a beloved series.

Never mind the loading times, the gameplay is so slow compared to the previous titles and it's clear they had to rush the game to release. It felt amateur after seeing all the great work ND put into their games with the animation, optimization and presentation.

I don't get it either.
I think people are overly critical on it because their expectations where wanting something to top Warped, rather than just be a slightly worse clone of it. Which really isn't that much of a bad thing since Warped is a really great Crash game and for the most part the vehicle levels are as good as Warped. The only big three exceptions I would say are the push cart, jeep sections, and swimming/sub levels but the latter is more of an issue with asshole level design rather than the controls themselves. Sea Shell Shenanigans and the first half of H2 OH NO are just very poorly designed levels.

As for the long loading times, that really isn't an issue if you are playing the updated Greatest Hits version or any non PS2 version since those loading times are basically a non-issue and is what you should do if you want to play WoC in the modern day.

Its not even a clone of Warped. It feels like a shallow parody of it. Its not fun to play, its not fast, the music isn't memorable. People just wanted a good game and they were denied that.

Its actually close to about the same dev time, if anything the version of WoC that got released was probably slightly shorter in development time. The main difference as two why WoC is a finished game and Twinsanity isn't mainly comes down to Twinsanity having a very inexperienced dev team and basically no focus with what they wanted to do.

Did you even play the fucking game dude?
It is basically a carbon copy of Warped with what the game does. You have a mixture of platforming levels and a few vehicle levels collecting crystals for level completion, gems for secret routes and all boxes, and ankhs for time trials, in a level selection of 5 levels per area with a boss fight before the next area that rewards you with a power up. That is literally the gameplay formula for both WoC and Warped. It is not a parody if it follows the same formula unless you don't know what that word means.

Also the music for WoC is fucking amazing. Each level has it's own song. It was the only thing in WoC that went above and beyond for this game and it really leaves a mark.

This music is absolutely awesome, honestly has some of the best music in the series, only problem is when you have a good song on a bad level that makes you associate that song with that shitty level.

We've both established WOC does the exact same thing as Warped. What makes it parody is that it does it significantly worse in a way that isn't even fun, complimentary or interesting. You got 4 fucking plane levels, 3 ball rolling levels, a level where you ride a shitty jeep in a race instead of a motorcycle, underwater levels but now theres a sluggish submarine. All the faults Warped had were copied and then tripled down on by TT. The internet existed back then, so they had no logical reason to do this knowing the complaints people had. Thats not even getting into how Crash actually controls and how they massacred the aesthetic and charm of the older games. The way Crash or even Crunch looks is some sort of Donkey Kong Country nightmare fuel.

Youre retarded, those games were big. I remember them -- not because i grew up with them or was interested in them but because they were big enough that they were omni present. For fuck sake they had greatest hits reprints because they sold so well you jack ass

They were anomalous though, platformers largely went under the radar. Billy hatcher, metal arms, sphinx, blinx, klonoa 2, none of these took off unfortunately. I have no idea how jak and daxter and rachet and clank managed to resonate with people (because feel theyre the least interesting of the games i listed even though theyre still good)

These games were either always going to be niche due to their design, or were made by B tier studios, TWoC wouldn't have been big with the previous audience either because it's a shit game that was always going to get mediocre reviews reflecting this.
