Devs are allergic to adding focus trees to the 50% of the map that still doesnt have them and they wont do the afternoon's work worth of effort to fix the bad focus trees already in the game.
Every DLC adds more bloat clicky bullshit to waste your time. Its obvious they're designed to make minmax sweaties fork out $50 each so they can waste hours customising tanks or boats so they can get a +1% combat effectiveness.
The game has always run like shit as well because they're probably still using the same shitty engine they've been recycling since CK2.

Its only saving grace is its modding community, which will eventually die when modders stop updates, thanks to the devs pushing yet another 1kb "Changed a translation error in one line of text" update that breaks everyone's mods

Yes, but it could be worse. Stellaris, Victoria, Crusader Kings, Rimworld, and other similar games are even worse.

Victoria focuses on economy/industrial revolution, CK focuses on interpersonal politicking, they are "similar" but they are also different to where if you're not a fan of doing economy/politics stuff the game just isn't for you, it's not worse.
