My dad in an effort to toughen me up since he was military took me to save Private Ryan as a kid, I was like 8 and it was the first time seeing that kind of violence. He got mad at me in the theater for laughing at the burning people scene. Then he got mad at my mom years later who let me watch some comedy with sex it in.

The only takeaway I have from that as an adult is my dad is an asshole, probably depends on who you are as an individual but to me those old cartoon movies like An American Tail affected me way more than sex/violence.
