At some point in the first game I just stopped doing side deliveries as all the preppers are fucking ugly ass robots that don't ever say anything interesting and just dick-ride Sam, it's actually feels like they were all weitten by ChatGPT while the main cutscenes were done by actual people.

It's a disappointment. I feel like I'm playing the exact same game with a talking doll and some shitty guns added in. It would be disappointing as a DLC but I dropped 70 bucks on a sequel that is the same shit. Not much to talk about, honestly. Story isn't any good either.

Basically how I've been describing it to people, yeah. I like it and will beat it eventually, but there's just nothing here to get excited about. The new story is uninteresting, the new "combat" isn't good, the core traversal is exactly the same. It's a huge budget for a giant nothing of a sequel.

Yes and no. It has a lot of QoL improvements which make it less of slog, and with "slog" I dont mean the actual walking, but more like everything being more convenient now. But it might also be too convenient, you have everything from perks, to vehicles, to both highways and monorails, and even fast travel with cargo, theres tons of tools and skills, and yet the game is a joke even on hardest difficulty, let alone on normal. Like, I just did the last order of chapter 4 (you have to go from F1 terminal to North Observatory), and even with the fast travel disabled, the best route is going around the black beach in the west to pick up lost cargo for the Animal Shelter, etc. The vista is cool, I had a big eartquake but it didnt affect the water levels nor has to avoid falling rocks. 2/3 begore the destination you can build an umbrella as a request from the animal shelter, and you have a Brigans camp right in front of you where you can "make your own fun", or just go around which only takes like 15 more seconds than going straight, and a few hundred meters ahead you reach the North Observatory. Using a vehicle you can finish this order while picking up everything in 15 minutes or so. Again, it depends of you wanting to make your own fun, or completisionism autism, but it feels too casualized compared to the first one, I wish he had went for a middle ground.

>then open shared online player cargo on ship take all packages for intended location
>take the minute trip with cargo to the location
>repeat to break the core gameplay loop and farm stars for all the locations
Why the fuck did they even allow this, it's so broken and lets you cheese the entire point of the game bypassing the traveling turning every 10-15 minute trek into a minute, you unlock a fast travel mechanic that doesn't let you take or abuse package transports with transponders anyway so what were they thinking allowing such a massive exploit with the ship

It's a niche game. Everyone who was curious about the first one found out if they liked it or not, so mostly only fans of DS1 are playing 2. It's a refined experience but not different enough to make good conversation, the plot is meh just like DS1 and the world/lore already got discussed with 1 so nothing new to say. The people who like it are playing it, the people who don't like it are ignoring it, and the people who hate ps5 having a game they can't play are driving in a straight line hoping a turn doesn't show up before their screen catches up with their game.

I stopped reading right here.

This is literally impossible for the main mission, because the Magellan will not move into areas not connected to the chiral network. Not to mention that it is impossible to get an "Legends of Legends of Legends" rating for standard deliveries, if you use the Magellan to deliver stuff.

Have you even played the game?

This is flagged by the game as cheating (Magellan rating) and barely gives you any likes. Not to mention that not every base is easily accessible by the Magellan and it is impossible for the main quest, because the Magellan can only be moved into areas connected by the chiral network.

A major aspect of the game is to create trade routes for other porters to use. They will eventually even appear on your map. You would know all of this, if you would have actually played the game.

Have you even read my post? In listing all the features I could think of, I even gave an example of how the fast travel doesnt work for main orders. I dont think the game is bad, on the contrary, its good but, as I said the game, it relies a lot on "make your own fun", which could be good for some but Im not a big fan. The plot can be a little underwhelming as well.

I barely played the first one until just now.
There are several reasons
>poor hardware
I was running on hardware that couldnt play it smoothly at 144 fps so the enjoyment wasnt there
>Did not get it
I never built roads or much except ladders or climbing ropes and walked mostly. Playing it with a fresh approach allows me to upgrade all the roads and then easily max out star reputation at each base or npc. Its much more enjoyable now.
>avoiding mules
Mules are easy to fight. I sometimes tried to avoid mule areas and walked into BT areas which are worse. Mules can easily be defeated by spamming melee, even when they get heavier armor you can walk behind or side of them and melee them. You can also just bolas them and then knock them out for good.

Anyways I have a pc that can play the 1st game and I have all the roads from lake knot to south knot finished, am working on going to the northwest waystation next.

Im annoyed at the phonecalls, story bullshit. I just wanna build roads and deliver

Does the map get more interesting?

I just beat the 2nd boss (big squid mech) and outside of Lone Commander there’s easily drivable paths to every settlement. Like fully flat smooth paths that you can drive on with zero issues. I’ve only had to use ladders/ropes once, which was Lone Commander, but I just noticed if you go the long way to him there’s a drivable route. There’s zero interesting traversal, it’s just load up bike with 6+ deliveries and drive completly unimpeded to destination.

DS1 didn’t become like this until you fully rebuilt roads and a complex zip line network, which took a ton of effort, so it felt rewarding optimising the game. But DS2 I’ve put in zero effort making routes, and I can just freely drive wherever I want. DS1 had a ton of places that were huge pains to get to, like good luck driving to Elder, even ones relatively open were a pain to drive to without huge effort put into bridges and such. DS2 has been braindead so far.

Spelunking. Navigating through swamps. Something that actually built on the first game's unique mechanics. I still find it absolutely hilarious that Snowrunner, which is a game about offroad hauling/trucking gets the overall gameplay figured out straight from the gate. Place player in a variety of environments and let them figure stuff out. In contrast Death Stranding as a franchise barely does anything interesting with its Porter premise and most of the gameplay is a superficial vehicle for Kojima's cinematic universe. It's jarring.

He rewrote the story to be more divisive and subversive to subvert your expectations, and they don't work at fucking all and it created major fucking plot holes in order for him to turn it into Marvel Avengers slop.

>Death is never the end now, you can just keep coming back and even take over robots.
>Guitar solo's, dances, lots of 4th wall breaking.
>Plot holes galore, the worst one was the void out that Sam was in to reveal he was a repatriate, now the claim is "EVERYBODY KNEW!"
>Tries to give the soldier sympathy even though he's a horrible person.
>Heavily lifts the plot from MGS2 for the final plot twist out of nowhere.
>The beach is just the internet after all and now has servers.
>BB's are internet on/off buttons, turning it on kills them.

The story is lame as fuck and horrible, the gameplay is good but forgettable.

Plenty of places to visit now, lots of environmental happenings, but they don't amount to anything.

>It floods, its not a big deal.
>The forest is on fire! Happens twice, not a big deal.
>OH GOD AN EARTH QUAKE! Never happens anymore after a plot point.
>AVALANCHE! always in the distance, never any harm.
>OH GOD A THUNDER STORM! Lightning never strikes you.
>Ram humans with a car, cant kill them.
>CC's are built up to be something cool and new, its nothing.

Lots of IDEAS GUY shit, never any real pay off, and they set up Death Stranding 3 with the dickhead in a suit coming back from the beach and being LE EVIL CORPORATE MAN!

You're not being trolled, anon - platypuses are legit the weirdest bastards in the mammal kingdom. Egg-laying mammals with venomous spurs, no nipples (they just sweat milk), electroreception, and a beaver tail. Kojima probably saw one in a documentary once and said "yes... that." Honestly feels 100% like something he'd cook up himself if nature hadn’t already beaten him to it.

It pisses me off in an autistic fashion that there are so many Kangaroo furries, but approximately fucking zero of them have the balls on top of their dicks. Furries do all sorts of fucked up shit with their dicks and balls but apparently this one thing is a bridge too far. I don't even like that stuff. It's just an autistic fixation ever since I noticed it against my will.

Given how autistic some of the artists are you could probably mention it to some of them and get them to draw a more accurate version
I once got an artist to do a new version of a drawing of a girl turning into a cabinet by pointing out he'd mixed centuries-seperated styles and linking some marquetry history. It wasn't even a commision, I just dropped my spaghetti in the comments.

Knowing it's in the game and that 'playing the right way' is just wasting time just kills the fun of playing, especially when in universe it wouldn't fucking matter, the people are still getting their packages, this really should have been found before launch, I think the Magellan teleport was a bad idea though this could be patched by disabling player cargo at the Magellan

When all is said and done DS2 will be considered an inferior game to DS1, this game is literally just DLC and lacks the moments of catharsis from the first game where you just managed to escape a BT nest.
In terms of story we have the same issue as MGSV where Fragile and Dollman are like Kaz and Ocelot and they speak a hundred times more than any of the other characters, Rainy and Tomorrow have barely even said full sentences and feel like they're only in the game for the feet scans.

Wanna know how many times I ran into BT's in DS2?

Maybe 3.
I only triggered one unique encounter with the tar man looking thing chasing me, any other time, nothing.

The world feels even more empty and less threatening then ever before and I cant stand it, and Sam was turned into an action hero.

Elder you could drive to. From engineer you go southeast and then at the large cyrptobiote at the base of elders hill you drive up the east face of the mountain. Didnt even need a bridge, theres basically a rock-clear path to follow.

There might be a BT zone if you drive too far south along the east side of elder's mountain.

You just go forward and hold breath, same in the first game as it is in the second game. This is the same shit as people saying RE8 isn't as scary as RE7, both are incredibly scripted sequences with mediocre combat.

Fragile also barely speaks, the entire middle like 20-30 hours no one really talks to Sam in real conversations. You would think we would atleast get some interactions on the ship, and that its wild that its not fully explorable.

Its basically every big sequel I can think of in the last 5 years. TOTK, Ragnarok, Forbidden West, Spiderman 2. Even throw Elden Ring on it, its the same formula they've been doing but open world. Same type of combat, bosses, ideas and arguably pretty weak overall level design outside of like 4 legacy dungeons.

MGS1-2 doesn't really count when that shift in generations was massive. MGS3 is much less of a jump from MGS2 than 2 was to 1. You get a camo system, a shit ton of menu hopping to equip them, and unless you go full lethal you won't engage with the CURE system at all outside of like 2-3 scripted story moments.

The wound System
The eating mechanics
The camo stealth
The huge improvement in graphics, at the time it was actually massive, MGS3 looked a millions times better than MGS2

MGS3 was a legitimate sequel, MGS4 shat all over the IP and MGS/DS finished killing Kojimbo legacy

2 of those are entirely pause menu mechanics, and like I said the CURE system basically isn't utilized outside of a few story moments because unless you just go guns blazing you really won't be shot that much. Camo system is neat, but ultimately because you need to pause feels really tacked on, you get an arbitrary number attached and in most cases 85% is basically invisible especially in grass. One of the early starts of the grass=invisible dogshit from modern games.

You don't even mention the backpack/weight system, cause its actually even more underutilized and pointless.
>NEW GRAPHICS
Come on now. MGS3 was very much an iterative sequel, similar to Sly 2->3. God of War 1->2 and even 3. Or Ratchet 2->3. You get new stuff, but ultimately same game new areas/tools. DMC3, 4 and 5 add one new character each but the mission and level design and core game is the same

Iterative sequel, is iterative. Shocker. I am glad the consistency of old game good/special, new game bad keeps on keeping on cause its literally every fucking sequel.

All that shows is reviewers liked it more than MGS2, and reviews say DS2 is better than DS1. I do think MGS3 is a better overall game than MGS2, and DS2 is the same for me over DS1 even if I think the pacing is a bit worse and the story feels a bit filler for the middle large portion. I enjoy the map more and the new QOL.

I'm playing the first one now and while the gameplay really clicked with me, these cutscenes are fucking killing me. I'm at the point where most game's cutscenes annoy me but this is next level boring. It's a cool setting and it's sort of vague, as it should be, but they still have me sitting there watching sam and other characters stare at their boots for thirty second in between dreary lines. The game would really benefit from extreme minimal plot and dialogue. You should feel like you go weeks without seeing a friendly face, alone with your thoughts.

Kojima obsesses over the most mid stuff in a totalitarian way, it makes you laugh
I love the game and it's fun, I love my walking simulator it makes me relax and I like playing collectively with others for the structures
the plot, meh

but things like: woodkid, luca marinelli, the friendship with Refn
it's like he has a 90% well-made aesthetic taste, but then fumbles everything else
he's a goofy dude who thinks he's based and goes full circle, it's absurd I shouldn't like games like that

You just BLEW MY MIND!!!!
HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT!
I didn't think of that! You're absolutely right, he's NOT snake, but like ONLY snake uses bandanas! It never existed in the world before and then it was invented for Snake, and it was never used again EVER!
Holy shit anon! You must have IQ of like over 100!!!!
Have you ever though about solving the Yang–Mills existence and mass gap!? You could totally do it! Only a once in a millenia level genius could solve it but then, who else was actually capable of realizing that two different characters are not the same!
Not like there's even a single other military character or individual in all of human history that wore a bandana which, as we established, was invented purely for snake and nobody even in like society ever thought of putting on a bandana!
God damn anon! Would you like to come over to my house and fuck my sister? I can think of no other way to reward this astronomical level of brilliance!

I hate the "make your own fun" philosophy in these type of games. I know Death Stranding has an "open world" but it barely has any incentive to fight Brigands, use perks/tools smartly, or be careful around BTs, even during main orders. Going around has 0 negatives other than having to walk/drive for 20 more seconds at worst.

Are we implying we should care about Ocelot who faked being controlled by Liquid, trying to do yet another attempt at Outer Heaven/world where soldiers aren't controlled by the government. People remember the MGS4 fight because of great music callbacks, and actually fleshing out the CQC. DS1, and DS2, final bosses don't have t he same callback potential and didn't flesh out the combat for a one-off boss fight.

They should make you play as Higgs in the second half, once you ended up connecting everything as Sam. Imagine finishing that story for the most part around half the game, so the focus changes to Higgs with a more action priented combat with crazy powers. DS fans would hate it, but thats how you actuslly take risks unlike Kojima's fake "I dont want everyone to love it"

I don't think it would matter, Kojima clearly isn't interested in writing even semi-normal conversations between people. You get MGS style stuff, or MGSV/DS style dialog where the protagonist barely talks to anyone and its impressive that we are somehow expected to believe they care for each other.

Im like half way through and it feels so vapid and soulless. The plot makes no sense. None of the important or new phenomenon are explained, reading the corpus everything is like "its mysterious", or "noone knows" or "some say" or some other vague shitery. And kojimbo just keeps stacking more and more on top.

Sure the cutscenes are sometimes cool looking but its all empty and missing real story conection and impact. Sam has no personality. So many copy pasted "bosses".

It feels like a mid dlc expansion but its not. In reality with all the recycled systems, mechanics and assets this aaa game still to kojimbo like 6 years to complete. Depressing.
