What games would you tell someone who hasn't played anything since around 2010 to play?
I liked simple team shooters back in the day but I tried a newer cod out and it plays like it's sped up 2x. Other than cod it seems there's not a lot of team death match games now

I play CoD WWII when i want some of that traditional console shooter. It's the last slow paced CoD (no sliding, wall running) and matches can either be everyone using the most annoying shit or just average bare bones shooting.

Do a lot of people still play it? Also is the campaign any good?

On Xbox (US) I have no problem finding tdm matches, you do run into the same people often though. Campaign is decent but it's def no World at War. Also if I remember correctly there's no Russia/Japan, only the US in Germany.

Elden Ring, RDR2, Cyberpunk. Your shooters are over little bro.

maybe some of the more "modern" battlefields? i'd say 1 and 4 might be okay?
you could play counter strike but idk if that's too tactical

>I want an arcadey nice shooter that isnt filled with skill-based matchmaking and predatory shit
Youre out of luck, that kind of game hardly exists. Battlebit was fantastic, despite its simpler looks it evolved on the battlefield formula a ton, but it got abandoned by developers too early and the quality degraded a bunch
>i want a taste of new zoomer shooters singleplayer FPS
Ultrakill
>I want some neat older-styled atmospheric FPS game
Metal Garden

would also rec Dark Souls 1 if you just want a game from your very timeframe that ended up becoming the most popular/influential shit ever

Intentionally trying to maximize for variety because each of the below is mostly VERY different from one another, they're all goated, if played in order would be very different experiences from one another and you'll catch up on most of the "you don't wanna miss this shit" games.

Minecraft
Portal 2
Red Dead 2 (you can skip 1 if you're time limited as 2 is just better, but it's also very good)
Breath of the Wild or it's "basically an expansion pack of garry's mod bolted to BotW" sequel, TotK
Persona 5
Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
one of Sekiro or Bloodborne
Balatro
Fallout New Vegas
Baba is You
Mario Odyssey
Doom 2016
Civ 6 with Gathering Storm
Undertale
Stardew Valley
Noita

If the above doesn't give you whiplash you'll get a very wide survey of basically everything interesting that's happened in gaming in the last 15 or so years

cod WWII had the greatest game mode ever in a cod game: the war mode. Too bad there were so few players and maps.
