Which class is the most fun? I played Soldier in ME1

Soldier. You get bullet time and all guns. ME2 classes that force you to use the SMG for half the game are pure dogshit.

Holding down attack button for the entire last mission on ME1 was pinnacle of kino and soulful
ME2 thermal clips and corridor cover shooting ruined everything.

That aside, if you want some action, choose Vanguard.

Vanguard and Infiltrator are fun. Adept too if you play on a low difficulty.

Engineer I believe is the least played class but probably the most powerful, since you can easily hack all the lockers to get the best loot early on, and early on too you can basically one-shot the most powerful enemies with just the pistol (which will be your only legit weapon for all the game). Basically it reduces the gunplay to a mere semi-auto *pew-pew* once in a while but you unlock all the loot for your teammates and you get a bonus in some dialogues and skill-checks.
It's the greatest class in my opinion.

Might depend on the difficulty. Vanguard for example can be rough on insanity, especially early game.

Vanguard is baby mode, even on higher difficulty it is genuine struggle to die
if you want fun try infiltrator with explosive round sniper rifle, obliterates final boss

Soldier with revenant, just endless barrage of bullets
Vanguard is also decent fun but a bit shit for the final boss

wish I could praise Engineer and Sentinel but both suck compared to their multiplayer variants that come with either grenade generator or biotic hammer
Infiltrator is all about maximizing headshot damage, glass cannon incarnate

I'm playing ME1 for the first time and I picked vanguard thinking it would have charge memes and I'd press Y to win but it's surprisingly just soldier + barrier and shield heal
I'm on insanity too and I've had very little trouble outside of jank fights (off screen one hit kills and the fucking thorion boss)

yeah ME1 and ME in general sucks in that you'll want to lock in from start to finish to get the best options
I remember 3 being unironically the best one with balanced options for both and not really much commitment needed for one or the other

Sentinel. Throwing enemies around as ragdolls or off of roofs/bridges is never not fun. That and the stun duration you get from it for DPS

Mass effect 3 vanguard on lower difficulties is absolutely peak fun, charge nova charge nova charge never gets old.

sentinel for the sickass tech armor and both biotic and tech abilities
