People make fun of Hunt Down the Freeman (and rightfully so) but it's unironically the best written and most honest Half Life game. You see what happens when you try and tell a real story in such a generic setting like the Half Life universe? It fucking sucks.

It's shocking how much better Deus Ex is in the way it tells its story, whether directly (cutscenes) or indirectly (emails), because they're not FUCKING SCARED OF TELLING A FUCKING STORY. Deus Ex doesn't hide what's going on behind vague mysteries that GO NOWHERE

>B-B-BUT THEY'RE DIFFERENT BECAUSE OF MY ARBITRARY GENRE TAGS!!1

Not an argument. There's a four year gap between HL2 and Deus Ex, but only Deus Ex still feels modern and innovative, meanwhile the gravity gun was mogged by Psi Ops the Mindgate Conspiracy and other later games. Nothing about Deus Ex has since been replicated, not even by DE's supposed sequels.

I'll replay Deus Ex to the day I die and I haven't even unlocked the achievements in HL2 when they added them to Steam because I thought it was mid then and it's probably still mid now.

>One of the greatest games of all time that revolutionised the FPS-RPG genre and basically laid out the blueprint for the modern immersive sim is better than generic corridor FPS slop that was praised for LE PHYSICS xD
No shit Sherlock.

You're not old enough to remember when this board was "/v/ - Valve Drones"

Thankfully a lot of them have died.
