I feel like they were laying it on too thick in the second game, too. Idk why. The first one seemed gritty and cool, then the second one verged into masochistic territory. There was always a trace of that in the first game. I mean, I guess it's the main point: all these fugly retards still have human dignity, and you as BJ fight for them.
But then in the second game your head gets cut off, there's the sassy pregnant black lady (not even sassy, just pissed off), and the fat daughter of the main villainess. Also, where the fuck is Hitler?
The first game's plot was weird as fuck in its implication that the Nazi supertechnology was stolen from a gaggle of wise undersea Hebrew schnorrers. it's also mildly racist. Should have just made the Nazis cut a deal with the devil or some shit like in the original Wolfenstein.
Also, the general overarching theme that Nazism was not in essence an enormous cult of personality driven by Hitler is just ridiculous to me. I get that they don't want to platform him or whatever, but it's stupid.

Even if it finally got remade by someone, I doubt the developers would get why it was popular in the first place and how it could still stand out relative to today's FPS scene. It would probably just go the way of Wolf 09's multiplayer and be dead-on-arrival.

I don't think killing Hitler is on the menu. They spent two games setting up horny sado granny as main antagonist, while Hitler was downplayed to hell and back in a single scene where you get to see him. I don't think fighting him would be exciting even if he was piloting some kind of mech, since he's probably struggling to tell left from right in his current state.
And if they introduce some kind of rejuvination magic, I'm sure they will use it on granny instead.
Also I have no idea what's going on in coop third game, I couldn't stomach playing more than one level because of the RpG MeChAnIcS.
