Why isn't WOW on consoles when ffxiv is, I want to try it out

because WoW is an actual MMORPG, FFXIV is a final fantasy game with online elements

Wow is looking rough these days but anyway if you want to try it dude bite the bullet and get a pc, you can play multiplats from all the way back in the day on it, buy games for cheap on steam, most online games are more populated on pc, pcs can be more powerful than a console, online is free, and youll be able to keep getting new games on it well into the next gen

I say this as someone who loved and still loves consoles but its time to move on man, sony nuked their first party shit a few years ago, nintendos mario mandate shit is boring and xbox has had nothing since xbone and theyre dropping out of the console war

Microsoft scrapped it, they don't want to offer it without Gamepass which is the industry standard for subscription based console games.
FFXIV skirts this by having a F2P model behind the MS paywall,
