The only real problem with MegmanX6 is that nightmare effects can sometimes make the stage impossible to pass and that Gate stage where you need armor that can jump+dash in order to proceed which makes bringing no armor or shadow armor an instant loss.
Everything else is fine.

Maybe not literally, but he wanted X5 to be the final X game. When I was binging all* MM games, I skipped X6-X8&CM because I assumed the beginning of the Zero series would not make sense with ending the series on CM (or 8).
That being said, X5 was also very tiring to play. I still consider it fine enough to not be retconned from my headcanon but I can just imagine how bad X6 was if X5 is not considered a low point in the series.

I've realized now that the reason I have a slightly higher opinion of X5 and X6 compared to most fans is that I played through them as Zero and didn't bother with X or the armor parts.

X1 is genuinely well regarded as an all-time classic. X2 is a solid follow-up and X4 had standout presentation for its time. On the whole the series is a mess, but it has its bright spots. X1 really does hard carry though.

I agree, especially on Rooster, but the worst is handily Manowar. It is a stage that masterfully runs the entire spectrum of entertainment value aside from any point that can reasonably be considered fun or enjoyable. Manowar at least CAN end fairly quickly when you get the hang of it. It still sucks ass but Rooster and Yeti have MULTIPLE autoscrolling segments that last way too long with no way of speeding them up.
Rooster is like a 6 minute stage where 5 minutes are taken up descending on ascending, and it has the balls to dare put the last autoscroller AFTER you beat the boss

Hottest take I've read in a good while, and we're in a X6 thread. X3 is trash, dude. I guess it has the double air dash which is cool but it's a mess otherwise.

Can someone please explain to me what everyone sees in X4? I'm mostly a MMZ fan and the only other X game I played before 4 was 1. I played 4 since a friend was really hyping it up but the level design sucked ass and gameplay wise it felt clunky and not very responsive but maybe that was an emulator issue.

It was a generation's introduction to Megaman in general, but besides that the presentation is very clean between its art direction and the FMVs. As for gameplay, it's not a very complex game at all but it's straightforward nature makes it pretty easy to maintain a sense of flow in. It's kind of a junk food game in that way - it feels good in the moment, even if it's not particularly high value in the long run.

I wish I could play X Legacy Collection 2 for the first time again, so I can experience the greatest rollercoaster of mediocrity with blind eyes and a naive hope that has yet to be crushed. It is genuinely the worst compilation of games I have ever played, through no fault of the people who bundled them together. Dud after dud, ending with one of the most horrible 3D platformers on ps2, and a finale with the worst set of level to be put in a Mega Man X game. I have never been disappointed in such quick succession before. What a fantastic bargain.

It is a direct downgrade compared to 2 and 3 and started the 2 phases per stage. However its loved because it has Iris, you can finally play Zero with no strings attached, the art and music complemented each other and was awesome for the time it was released, plus it had animated cutscenes despite the quality of the dub. Also, you can get a choice between 2 arm upgrades for X in addition that you can use the armor pieces when you get them.

For me, X5 was saved only because of the music, all Zero Stages and the cool Zero virus expansion. Also the X and Zero fight. If X2 had given a better reason to collect the parts and had X vs Zero as the default, then I would have put it above X5.
