Back in the day Naughty Dog were fucking magicians. There was a dude, I think one of the founders, who used to work on rockets for the JPL at Caltech. I remember reading a blogpost about the hacks he employed to make something related to textures work on Crash and it was pure genius. It seems some of that culture still prevails. I think they also put one programmer alone to work on the rope physics. Dude's sole job was getting that shit done and he did it to a tee.
