Souls bosses that would fit in other souls games? I think the Rotten would’ve been really cool in Bloodborne, even though it’s similar to the One Reborn

Off topic, but what makes a good boss, gameplay - , lore - or design wise? Some I like, most I don't. Couldn't explain though. Picrel seems lame lore wise, design wise, too. Concept is cool, I guess.

To me, a good boss is a memorable one, especially in a series where there are so many.

Remember how just creative and unique DS2's bosses were? A muti layered arena with three distinct fighters. Each with their own tactics, weaknesses, and strengths. Where the player can use environmental elements to their advantage, create chokepoints, isolate, and deal status effects for massive damage. And then Bloodborne just puts you into a flat circular arena against 3 identical dudes codenamed mystery niggas fucking lol. God, from sold out so fucking hard.

Ds2 bosses have their highs, but unique? The “most of the bosses are some big guy in armor” meme isn’t too far off

It's more true for DS3.

I'd say this is necessary for a boss or special enemy. Played borderlands 3 and don't remember a single fight.

Liquid, rex, solidus, storm eagle, baby bowser, kuze(!), walton simmons, tree of men, kalameet, firkraag and so many more.
Reading my answer, I can say

Bosses can profit from having a personal tie with the pc. Some form of relation pays off, at least in term of memorability.

It means you faced them over leveled and it was a complete fluke.

This fight sucked and a terrible example
If this is what it means to have “unique” arenas then just give me the circle

Difference is Bloodborne's combat is overall far more engaging and fast paced and doesn't really work in multi-level environments. Souls games have mechanics designed for such environments and exploiting them.
