Sometimes it'll work, sometimes you need to scrounge around the steam forums or r/KotOR for a fix. It's the average experience of trying to run an old game on Windows verisons above 7.

I heavily mod my game either way, which is what anyone should be doing with KotOR 1 or 2 in 2025 anyway.
