Nintendo hasn't released a good game since Tropical Freeze.

Why are all modern Nintendo games so boring, casualized, and devoid of soul?

Not OP, but they really could have done something different, like take a PiT approach, have Peach and Bowser team up for their own segments. Instead of just Bro Items, they could have maybe done a summon-like system with examples being Peach and Dorrie showing up, Bowser, the trio of kids, Connie, etc. Brothership tried to do "oh you can take an alternate route" with some situations, going for visiting the brother or sister first to have them join the ship, using Luigi or Peach as bait in that business city island, but it was very small alternations that didn't change much.

Tropical Freeze wasn't nintendo.
>Why are all modern Nintendo games so boring...
Because they're outsourced.

Nintendo themselves are boring, casualized and devoid of soul. I can't say they were ever not casualized, but the boring and devoid of soul part is a fairly recent occurrence. Nintendo was the last thing left keeping me interested in games since they at least did their own thing and were the "weird" ones that wanted to give new play experiences and try to push the industry forward. Now they are the same as the others, just with weaker hardware, Mario and Zelda. I hate it because I don't want to be a sports junkie like I know I'm turning into, but there's nothing really interesting happening in the video game industry for me. Since Nintendo isn't doing anything interesting anymore (and I know Sony and Microsoft are only going to be "the same thing as last time but more powerful" like they've been for generations), the move is just sticking with my PC and playing older consoles for older games I missed.

I apologize for posting all this here, it's been something that I've been thinking about for a while. Video games have been a huge part of my life for over 2 decades now and I hate that I'm feeling this way.

For me personally, i think KI Uprising was their last soulful game. Post-Wii U Nintendo has been missing something.

I frequently forget both those games exist.

I'll say it's Star Fox Zero. I liked it and still do. I agree with you, is what I'm trying to say.
