It's the same as when people complain about how dull the McDonald's buildings look, or how companies keep changing their logos to be minimalist slop. It feels lazy, it feels like a downgrade, it's depressing to look at.
Doesn't help that the games just don't do it for me anymore. Unironically, there are DS era shovelware games I own that I look back at more fondly than mainline Switch era AAA games, because they just had that much more soul put into them.
