1 doesn't end on a cliffhanger. The plot is completely wrapped up. Shepard's final line is a sequel bait, not a cliffhanger.

Sorry, wrong pic. I can't believe they killed the franchise after this game, but I suppose it's understandable. Imagine if they didn't stop, and kept making over 100 new monsters for each new title. The designs would obviously only get worse over time, that would be inevitable.
