I'm glad I found a decent friend group I can be myself around. It started as just a random small Project Zomboid server I joined, because playing that game alone is miserable. Sometimes they're playing FotM stuff I skip on, but we've played a large variety of games together & it's refreshing. Nobody is overly edgy, but nobody shuts down taboo jokes or funny lines when they come out either. It's a really rare thing to stumble into and I got lucky. I've been soloing into every game for years and years. It's nice to finally find a decent group of people to chill & play different games with.
If you actually want that, OP, you do have to be a somewhat decent person yourself. If you work on that and just try to find a small group, I believe you can find something similar to what I have found. The group I found is so chill we make people admins as a joke and nobody has fucked with anything. They could wipe the discord or delete our server/worlds in different games, but nobody does. People have come and gone, some take big breaks just to poke their head back in an be welcomed, and some people have stopped playing anything with us & just chat. It's really, really nice ngl.
