Also, Tim Cain left about half way through development of Fallout 2 due to Brian Fargo fucking him over on his bonus for his job on Fallout. All because 3 weeks before shipping Fallout a game-breaking crash bug was found, and it took over 2 weeks to find it due to how random the crashes would occur. After they found and fixed it an angry Brian Fargo demanded to know which programmer it was that caused the error. Tim Cain, a man of principles, refused to identify the team member responsible as it was not a malicious act.

Because the primary idea behind Fallout was having a post-apocalyptic world and seeing humans interact/survive in that environment.
This whole robot/synt vs human thing is completely detached from what makes Fallout Fallout
Would be okay if it was just a small side quest in one of the games but making it the primary focus just makes no sense whatsoever. But Bethesda don't see that or don't care. According to them Fallout simply means "Brotherhood of Steel, Powerarmor and big nukes"

Synths are robotic monsters made in a lab.

Mutants make perfect sense because the whole nation got obliterated in nuclear fallout plus Vaults having all those fucked up weird experiments on people.
Also: Mutants existing makes synths even more pointless cause we already got the "are they even actual humans" debates though ghouls and muties. There was no need to also pull super advanced robots into this. You are now just rehashing previously visited plotpoints from a different ankle.

I think so too. Why come up with something new if you can come up with an excuse to just endlessly re-use the same old stuff again and again.
People call Bethesda Fallout the "Disneyfication of Fallout" for a reason. Just like Disney keep rehashing things like Star Wars with endless evil empire vs rebel plotlines Bethesda will find a way to endlessly rehash previously visited Fallout questions and conflicts.

They should've just done clones. Outright clones.

And then you do "synths" by saying they're designer, digital clones. That is, you're not taking the DNA and copying it, you're building it from a recorded recipe. Then you get your Blade Runner knock-off but then have to do something else with the robot soldiers. And that detective robert.

yes and no. At least in the case of Super Mutants, there is a rich and plausible lore.

Super Mutants
>Richard Grey breaks into pre-war military base with a team of survivors, everyone dies (except Harold who makes it out)
>Discovers US gov was experimenting with forced evolutionary virus (FEV) to create super soldiers
>Grey almost dies and becomes the Master, obsessed with repopulating earth with super mutants

Synths
>Institute founded to make synths to "better humanity"
>They like making synths
>They want to better humanity but treat anyone outside the Institute as a threat
>They became obsessed with human-like synths to infiltrate the surrounding human societies for no reason
>Synths are more important than humans

The problem is the motivations behind the actions. The Master in FO1 was a mutated freak and barely sane, obsessed with repopulating the Earth with smart muties (they were always smart by default) to be resistant to the devastating radiation found in countless areas

The Institute's existence is to make synths for the sole purpose of making synths. The stated reason for its existence and activities is a vague and contrived "to better humanity" which is never elaborated on. They want to help humanity yet their actions show they perceive all outsiders as a threat. Calling their facility high tech is an understatement even by pre-war standards, and they spend all their time building replicants rather than technologies to help humans out in the wasteland. It's just one plot hole after another and it's hard to take seriously.

Something something simple is better and triangles are intuitive. His premise is wrong. No point in trying to figure the solution for a made up problem.

How up your ass do you need to be a dev and miss the point of PoE's grid? It's designed that way for granular progression and decision making based on the loot system. The first few hours of gameplay are fun because you're building your character either with a build in mind, to create one based on the best gear you find or likely a combination of both. The grid plays a major part in that and the economy is even partially ran on skill reset orbs.

Synths have existed since Fallout 3. Besides it makes no sense no one would develop more sophisticated robots 200 years after they could be found everywhere in the streets. Producing synths to restore human civilization would make way more sense than deploying FEV virus if they didn't botch the dialogue in Fallout 4's ending.

I know I'm 6 hours late, but Fallout really does 3 things well: world building, writing and aesthetic. The gameplay is fine, but it requires you to trial-and-error your way into a workable build (unless you look up a guide or something). The RNG is also a bit fucked, but it's an old game.
