>attacks where you need to think and decide whether you need to roll to the left or to the right
that it? is this all it takes to get everyone endlessly moaning about iframes and hitboxes?
Anonymous No.714062453
its just a terrible game. the only good things about it were build variety and pvp

>that it? is this all it takes to get everyone endlessly moaning about iframes and hitboxes?
No, broken hitboxes are what gets people to complain about hitboxes
And that's just one the huge number of issues Dark Souls 2 has

I think DaS2 has other flaws (mostly in the level design being super gamey and the animations being very floaty which are issues unique to it in the series) but it's hilarious seeing how many people get filtered by the concept of 'divide and conquer'.
Also something I've noticed as a PvPfag is how many people expect to INSTANTLY chug Estus. You'll fight guys in the Belfries, well past the point where they should have learned, and they'll roll back once or run backwards for half a second and start chugging in front of you. It's absurd how much the later entries have encouraged reaction based rollslop instead of actually thinking your actions through

I've never had a problem with hitboxes. But the bosses are a bit of a mixed bag for me. They have less poise and you can stagger them with any weapon and they have less resistance, which is good. But they're lame compared to the BB and DS1 bosses. It's one of the only things I think DS1 does better than DS2.

Dark Souls 2 lets you freely chug estus or pop any lifegem you like and heal back the punishment you could take, and is fundamentally a braindead game with infinite heals

If youre so hellbent on joining every DS2 thread to moan about the same thing, i think you should post savefile so we can see your death count

>Gamey

You mean DS1, right? That's the most gamey game in the series. With literally lifeless NPCs waiting for the player to trigger their actions. DS2 brought back a more lifelike world, BB went even further with voice acted NPC's and don't even get me started on Sekiro

Yes anon, it is pretty easy to heal when yoiu have poise on an endgame build and high ADP.
But I'm talking about people in the early-midgame who didn't adjust to slower heal times at all
>but muh Lifegems
they take a fair while to heal any large chunks of damage without popping several at a time, which ends up being about the same speed as an Estus
>>714062957
no, I'm talking about the fact that there are like three or four levels in the game that are somewhat plausible as 'real', lived in areas based on the lore of where they are and laid out as such (even with it being fantasy)
>No Man's Wharf
>Forest of Fallen Giants
>Shrine of Amana
>Brightstone Cove Tseldora
Even in those areas it still feels pretty stark compared to DeS or DaS1.
Rest of the game feels like you're playing a 5th or 6th gen console game where the theme for an area is represented as 'here's an open area or corridors with a different skybox'. Iron Keep is literally a Mario level. To be honest it does have its charm, it reminds me of the stuff I played as a kid if it had modern hardware and online functionality behind it. But it's clearly a step down from the other games where it feels like a tonne of thought went into making something that both played well and feels like an actual world with history in every nook and cranny.

>level design being super gamey
Good, at least levels are mechanically engaging and diverse
Better than DS3 and ER where they're just murder hallways simulators

it's mostly just the ADP making roll i-frames unintuitive and the awkward enemy hitboxes that mess with people

I somewhat agree with that and non-ironically Iron Keep has the least lifelike npc's of all those levels. It felt like a DS1 level. On art direction DES still has the best art direction of the 7th gen souls games. Still, DES isn't perfect, with a lot of empty corridors. DS1 and 2 avoid this problem by shortening the levels and putting more stuff in them.

I have 3 ADP and no poise (which doesn't exist in Dark Souls 2). Healing is simply easy
>>but muh Lifegems
>they take a fair while to heal
No. They don't. You can set up an healing factor which nullifies any kind of punishment
