As I understand it emerged from the people who got killed when a voidout destroyed a city.

The game oddly enough singles out The Elder from DS1. Which I'm not entirely sure what the significance of it is.

I’m not sure, but if I remember correctly, he was an immigrant who hated Trump.

Through ds2, we can see a broken so-called “wall” So the idea is that the immigrant became president, but he’s the bad guy. Oh boy

Is Kojima telling us that Jews are using immigrants to gain control over other countries?

No, the game very explicitly states that our capacity to movie and explore and indeed migrate is part of what makes us human and that not doing so would mean our stagnation as a species.

But yes, the fact that the guy whonwas railing against anti immigration rhetoric in tje first game is now the one who wants to bind humanity in place in the second game is an interesting bit of irony.

Here's why DS2 is not as good as DS1:

>It's too easy to navigate the world. if I go around a BT area or bandits it should be punishing and difficult. You can essentially stroll around all of the encounters. It's insulting.
>The feeling of scale in the menu map is off.
>The added weather and environmental shit doesn't make the game any more difficult. Day/night cycle is also useless.
>All of the item upgrades so far feel pointless (even moreso than DS1). Each item should have a specific point. I don't even know why we need more than one gun.
>im playing offline and there are far too many ladders and packages left around. It seems like you're never stuck in a situation without the right gear, even if you didn't pack it with you. That's a huge mistake, imo.
>I don't care about any of the people I deliver to. They are all uninteresting and don't seem to be in need the same way as the characters in DS
>I don't like the BB is dead storyline. You should have hung onto the toddler Lou until much later in the story. I'm a dad and part of what made DS so great was it was dadcore.
FINAL THOUGHTS: The map and characters were simply better in DS1. The map definitely offered more of a challenge (until the roads were all built).

I put over 200 hours into DS1. I'm 25% of the way through DS2. I'm just itching to go back to DS1.

And the story doesn't feel inspired by Oblivion (2013), Edge of Tomorrow (2014), Noah (2014), or Titanium (2014) anymore, but rather by a bunch of marvel slop movies and disney tv series. Like that one awful scene where they're all holding hands to save Sam just like in guardians of the galaxy... terrible

Yes. The tone is definitely off. I'd say overall it feels like a less solitary experience, which is by design I suppose, but I think that was a mistake. The ship didn't need to follow you everywhere.

It's not a BAD game. It's just a small step backward. He really should have put more thought into the map and increasing the difficulty and mechanics of traversal. The world should essentially be a movement puzzle, it's not though. There are literal dirt roads around danger.

Also I thought he would have fixed the "container repair spray" mechanic. I only used repair spray once in DS1 and realized it didn't matter, you just had to not fall, which was stupidly easy. Now it's even easier. He could have done something better with the package damage and timefall to increase difficulty and the importance of planning and weather.

Knowing the weather is kind of pointless.

It all comes down to the game being half baked. He rushed to get the game out before GTA6, but ended up putting things in the game (like weather) that are neat and realistic, but have no real gameplay impact. And if I know anything about Kojima it's that gameplay and fun should come before realism. He fucked that up this time.

Death Stranding 2 sucks, first one is better.
The only thing thats impressive about DS2 is how it looks visually in the world, and the facial animations and lighting, otherwise it looks like shit too, it in no way looks as impressive as the 2019 one and thats because of the direction.

What do you think about boss battles? The enemies' ai seems so terribly stupid, they just spin around, then sink into tar, and rarely attack you, even on the hardest difficulty. Is Kojima really that kind of casual gamer who thinks bosses should be this easy?

Routes and encounters were made even easier in DS2? I just finished playing DS1 for the first time, and by far my biggest complaint was that the game never really pushes you to engage that deeply with any of its systems. You can attach carriers or load things onto vehicles or build structures… or you can just walk. You can sneak through MULE camps and steal their shit… or you can just go around. Even if they see you, most of the time you can just keep running and occasionally fire the bola gun at them. You can fight BTs with all the weapons the game gives you… or you can crouch walk everywhere and just cut the umbilical cords. The game isn’t really harder if you play hands-off like this, it’s just more time consuming. Every obstacle can be easily circumvented if you have enough time.

I didn’t dislike it, the core gameplay loop is fun and I really respect its vision overall. But one of the appeals of MGS is how tightly, intentionally designed every encounter and mechanic is and I really didn’t feel that here. By the time I finished I was very ready for it to be over, and I hardly did any of the side missions.

Well the goal is to get S anyways (and LLL) for all deliveries which you'll keep grinding for after the story is complete.
Though I have to say I think both games lack balls in the sense that it's wayyy too easy to just to go up walls like a bethesda horse using the vehicles and it's impossible to actually stumble unless you're retarded on purpose. Like the exploration is forgiving to the point of being quite pointless. Like why would I give a fuck about roads? Don't need em

Played first game twice (2nd playthrough was offline and i basically 100%'d endgame) and I just finished DS2 and I have to say that the encounters are even worse. I couldn't sense any improvements in AI or level design and you can very easily abuse every encounter by just camping behind one cover and knocking out the retarded enemies one by one, and I played on hardest difficulty. There's just TONS of enemies. It's like you said, it's the opposite of MGS where the encounters are water-tight to a specific degree.
But it's honestly crazy how bad the "stealth" gameplay is in DS2. Like actual X360 indie unity game tier bad. AI dumb as rock, weapons and mechanics imbalanced and everything just feels trivial.
Still love the game though and I'm gonna keep delivering for the endgame again because it's therapeutic and fun.

I didn't use zip lines and only made roads for likes, otherwise its been straight shots over smooth terrain.

I only triggered one BT encounter near the end when I was just no longer assed about anything and wanted it over so I drove straight into a BT wondering what would happen, even getting away in the car is easier now, you no longer get stuck in the tar.

Mules are the only dangerous part, when they actually care, or notice you, it makes me miss Phantom Pain more then anything else.

The only difficult part I had was the last 3 network link ups which is one man suicide mission against bots. Otherwise it was all to easy.

>BT's no longer a threat.
>No worry about a void out even.
>No worry about killing anybody or causing one cause "non lethal" out the gate.
>The major plot device with Lou was so obvious that I never once soothed due to it.
>Sam keeps unequiping the gun on me or refusing to aim. "this was the hardest part of the game for me."

>stealth is still bad
That sucks. It makes me wonder just how much of the core design of MGS can be attributed to Kojima, it’s just so good there and it’s hard to believe that he’s gotten THAT much worse. I know that I can’t expect MGS-tier stealth from DS because it is, fundamentally, not a stealth series, but I’m shocked it’s still not more complex than “hide in tall grass, wait for guy to turn around”. MGS1 blows that out of the water and that was fucking 1998. At this point I’m actually a little worried about Physint. Praying that Kojima’s gotten the open world bug out of his system and we get a whole game of Ground Zeroes-style maps.

Honestly, if Physint is the open maps of MGSV but fully realized, that’s fine with me, too. When MGSV is firing on all cylinders it really, really works. But the stealth in Death Stranding doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence.

Yes in those aspects it's easier/worse than the first game. The environment in DS1 was at least interesting and had its own challenges. DS2 goes out of its way to make it easy to navigate. Total missed opportunity. I don't even know why container repair spray exists.
