So WHY did they cheap out on the screen? The ghosting and color inaccuracy is pretty noticeable and I think most people would prefer a more expensive switch than to get a subpar screen. People here shit on apple but when have they ever released a screen that isn't pleasing to look at, they're all well calibrated and high quality so for nintendo to be even below one of the most hated companies online is just sad and pathetic

The console is made at budget for profit. Nintendo doesnt take the sony approach of selling at a loss to attract more consumers. If they fix the lcd then they would need a better battery. Through a youtube video, which downclocks the screen to 60hz to save battery (because no jewtube video goes over that anyway) like any game that doesn't use the full 120hz would.
The video even literally admits to the downclocking around 4:50 even, "Switch 2 60hz IPS LCD"

Also in the first place you can't even download the youtube app on the switch 2 as it has compatibility issues, to get it there you need to transfer it from a switch 1.

Nintendo had to kill their home console line because nobody wanted them. Portability saved their hardware so you bet your ass people are going to want use this handheld as a handheld and people who use it mainly docked are the outlier.

As some have said, Nintendo always makes low-budget products.
The only thing really unexpected about this screen is that it is considerably slower than the Switch 1, which is already low budget in the first place. This is pretty insane, and my explanation is that Nintendo wanted to try to make the image look more or less attractive to the eye, comparable to OLED, and when it comes to LCD monitors, attractive image is almost always the opposite of response time. That's why almost any monitor for digital art will be ruled out for gaming (even if it has response times 2x or 3x faster than the Switch 2).

Nintendo’s classic screen lottery: with the New 3DS, there were both TN and IPS panel variants. And with the non-OLED Switch you had 4 to 5 different screen suppliers, each offering at least two types of panels. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if tariffs led to a higher percentage of cheaper, lower-quality screens being shipped to the U.S. to boost profit margins. Meanwhile, Japanese units likely got the premium panels.

I was curious about the Switch 1 screen, and although it has really poor motion clarity, its color calibration isn't bad. It's better than, for example, the Samsung smartphone I had, which leans heavily toward blue.
I compared the Switch 1 screen with my monitor, which is properly calibrated with external equipment, with same brightness, and you can see that the colors on the monitor are more "vivid" (I believe this is because the color gamut is slightly larger, since my monitor has 100% sRGB and the Switch 1 probably doesn't reach that), but other than that, the colors are very close to the real thing.
Switch 2, on the other hand, is said to be leaning heavily toward blue, like basically all screens on the market that are not properly calibrated.

But I cannot see shit with my own two eyes. And I guess it has more input delay than normal? I still can't tell. But then again I couldn't tell my Wii U Gamepad apart from using the TV.
