1. No games
2. Too expensive

Remont the PSP CPU, back touch pad and maybe cameras, make spin-offs of your flagship titles for PS Vita, basically do the things that made PSP a success.

Memory cards mostly, I think price was also a factor. Probably could have used something that was more of a killer app to get more normalfags in as well.
But it's a pretty decent little system. Plenty of games to play through, though a lot of the worthwhile exclusives have been put onto other systems now.

Cucklifornia.
Vita died in Japan in 2019 despite SIE cutting all support to it in all other countries in 2016.
Also I remember the drastic drop in support of the Vita happened exactly in 2013 with tlou success that made the switch of Playstation HQ to commiefornia.

As yet again you can blame fully the american jews.

Vita has only got good now with homebrew though so you're incorrect.

Fucking homebrew had to port GTAs and it's also now the best machine for Dead Space mobile game (that is actually great).
Not to mention Cuphead and plethora of other ports.

Yeah people that shit on California are just mad they live in a shitty part of the country. It's OBJECTIVELY the best place to live if you have money. NYC is fun to visit but honestly the main draw is the high paying jobs, if you can just move anywhere in America I can't see someone choosing somewhere else.

"East Coast" is just shorthand for NYC, don't know why you'd move to Boston, Philly, etc if you have the OPTION to live in Cali

Handheld gaming was already losing popularity due to the rise of social media and proliferation of smart phones. The Vita just came out when it was all over. Keep in mind the PSP was not as popular as people would have you think. The 3DS suffered the same fate as the Vita to a lesser extent (it actually had games worth a damn to play).

What should I be using for emulators on this thing? Namely Genesis, GBA, NES, and SNES. The Retroarch app is neat but I'm not convinced those cores are as optimized for the Vita as they could be, as I can't keep a consistent 60fps in Sonic 3 despite everyone saying the Vita runs genesis games perfectly.

It had some pretty good starting lineup, the issue is that there was barely any more games made for it after that, even more internationally. It's like everyone gave up on it instantly.
The 3DS had less games than the DS, but it still got plenty of releases until at least 2016.

The Dreamcast is the prime example but the PSP is in that category too. Most people that bought it outside of Japan did it to play SNES games on it. It was not before the release of PPSSPP that gamers began that rediscover its game library.

For GBA the gpsp core is the best by far. Every game I tried it on worked properly, sounded right, and ran at the right speed. For SNES I think the 2005 core has the best balance of performance and accuracy, but it probably varies by game. Start a game with 2010 and work backwards if it runs like shit. Haven't tried NES or Genesis yet so I can't comment on those.

it sucks. awesome technologically speaking, had some great features, was nice in the hands. this could have succeeded if sony decided to not be bitchy. also, if they had cut support for the psp. as we've seen, nothing was learned, and both xbox and playstation are being continually dragged down and kneecapped by older gens. it really sucks because there's no consumer-friendly way to do this. either you basically lock in your new console to being soft launched for years, or you cut support for prior consoles past basic security features.

THen you could get away with only buying a 8gb card at launch since every game had a physical release, making the "memory card pricing" issue completely mute. The real reason why nobody bought it at launch was because it could not run Pokemon, that's it. Handheld gaming in the west is centered around pokemon and nothing else since 1998.

The joke is that the PSP was not that popular in the west. Yes, Sony sold a lot of console and these were among its most popular games, but most people bought a PSP at the time to hack it and play emulator on it, that's a fact.
Nobody was actually buying PSP games which is why the Vita had no western support at launch. Only a few weebs were buying games in a time when "japaneses games" were seen as bad compare to western one, it was the late 2000s, remember.

The Vita literally has games. 1732 games, that's one thousand, seven hundred and thirty two games native for Vita, plus it can play tons of PSP, minis, and PS1 games.
