How FUCKING NEW are all you DROOLING RETARDS?
Have you all been living under a fucking rock for the last 2 decades?
Embrace.
Extend.
Extinguish.
This has always been microsoft's goal, be it through merger or hostile takeover.
Why the fuck do all you retards have to keep learning this lesson time and time again?
Microsoft was to the software world what EA is to the games industry.
I'm not even mad it happened again, just that everyone seems confused and shocked by it.

Less competition. Unload some of your debt on the studio and show your company has record profits.

Costs money.
Fewer games they make the less it costs.
Less competition making games they have, the more likely people are to buy their games since there's less stuff to play.

Xbox hates exclusives, their platform died. Moving on.

Being contrarian, also it's the fact that even if it does get the signatures, and it does pass after like 2 years of deliberation to finally get into effect, it won't actually bring back any of the games that we've lost already. I don't give a fuck if the Persona 5 gacha or some dogshit live service game is playable in three years, but this legislation won't bring back any of the shit I played as a kid that's dead forever.

And what exactly does Microsoft gain from doing this? Spending billions of dollars just to break other people's toys.
If all they cared about was gaining exclusives (which they obviously don't at this point) it'd have been far cheaper to just pay for exclusivity rather than buying studios out whole.

>And what exactly does Microsoft gain from doing this? Spending billions of dollars just to break other people's toys.
Monopolization, if you buy up all the big names, you own not just the games exclusive to your system, but the people making them.
Cheap doesn't matter if it's Microsoft, they make metric tons off their other products that they can pretty easily tank a loss for a while to own the market.
Worst part is that once they get a good grip, they can basically ruin how well things work on competing systems, which they've done before with CP/M (DOS alternative) and windows.
