>>714124574In a spacefaring future humanity has a new technology of essentially hardlight holograms which have very little density but can be physically interacted with. The game centers on CrossCode, an MMO that uses another planet as its virtual world and hologram avatars to move around in it. You play as a nearly-mute girl named Lea, and due to story reasons are being snuck into the game world rather than joining it as a normal player. The game is about exploring the character interactions, fictional setting of the CrossCode game, and the real world setting surrounding it. The main draw is mechanical; the dungeon design is stellar and the combat has a nice mix of arcade action with enough strategy to prevent spam.
It's a slow starter as characters are introduced and the start of the game trends heavily towards doing standard MMO fetchquests, but opens up rapidly once you start peeling away the layers and exploring the world surrounding the fictional MMO rather than just playing the fictional MMO.
