I have been looking to pick one of these for a year now; been wanting to replay some 3D classics, and the only way to play some of them (like Link Between Worlds) is literally on a 3DS. Others like RE: Revelations or Super Mario 3D Land look a lot better here, and feel right.
Anyway, I should have grabbed one of these when it was in the fucking bargain bin seven years ago apparently. At some point they went and became some super rare console if you want a brand new one. Legit I was sus af about this listing cause these usually go for $700 new. It’s shipped and we’ll see what I get in a week or so. Downsides are that box isn’t in great shape and that cover looks absolutely filthy. Non zero chance this thing reeks of cigarettes and cat piss when I get it, but also, it’s literally half the price of the other new ‘New’ 3DS systems on eBay.
Next step is gonna be jailbreaking the thing, and I hear you gotta follow the instructions exactly to not brick your 3DS.

Posting a higher quality pic so you can see what I mean about the blanket behind it looking sus af. Oh well, taking the risk. People - if you’re gonna list shit on eBay, please put the item on a background not covered in dead skin flakes and pet hair.
This thing about to get doused in 99% alcohol before it ever comes inside the house
They should have made more of these

Here you can see the psychotic prices these things go for. These are the cheapest new-in-box “new” 3DS I could find, located in North America. There’s a cheaper one, but it’s a live auction that has 24 hours left and is already north of $550.
Insanity. From something they couldn’t hardly give away ten years ago.
>>714112632If you are buying anything not in factory shrink wrap assume that someone's balls has been on it
its just the way the world works, put on some gloves and hit it with some sanitizing wipes
Regular old 3DS is probably cheap, New 3DS XL is the one that no one bought
Why would you want to buy an actual new one if your concern is not collecting?
Why is it expensive now, homebrew has been out for 3ds for ages, did some youtuber make a video about it
>>714112631 (OP)It's braindead easy to do homebrew now on 3DS. Literally any retard could do it. I did it for my co-worker for free because he asked.
>>714113541>did some youtuber make a video about itEvery youtuber on planet Earth made a video about it years ago. I think the prices got fucked by covid and never recovered.
>>714113541it got expensive as fuck during covid because it was officially discontinued.
>>714112631 (OP)Buy an LL instead, it's little over $200
Region swapping is on the 3ds hacks tutorial if you need it (not required as CFW unlocks regional carts)
>>714113042I have the new galaxy 3DS XL and wow this makes me glad I bought mine when it was $100-something. Good luck getting one OP, it's an excellent handheld. The improved 3D alone makes it a great upgrade over the older 3DS. I think the one you posted looks too disgusting to be worth it though. You open that box and a bunch of bugs will probably crawl out
>>714112631 (OP)it's honestly not worth buying one for that price when all you're probably play on it is pokemon.
There aren't that many good games for it, at least games that did't get ported/remastered already
>this seller doesnt allow returns
>do it anyways
>>714112631 (OP)>>714113042Where the fuck are you seeing these prices? I literally just bought the exact same Galaxy model N3DS XL on eBay a few weeks ago in the original box (box was kind of beaten up but actual 3DS was near mint) for $300.
>>714115701He's trying to buy it brand new for some reason.
And they called me crazy for stocking up on them.
>>714112631 (OP)>>714112632you're kinda retarded because this obviously isn't brand new and will come obviously used and repackaged but also ebay basically always sides with the customer so I guess in the end you can get your money back if it ends up being used
>>714112631 (OP)The color peeling on the bend of the pull flap, clearly opened and used
>>714115701300 is still insane for what it is
>>714117768It is, but I was willing to pay a premium to get a Western one with no scratches or wear for significantly cheaper than other listings, but beaten up Japanese models with yellowed screens going for only $50 less than that is diabolical. We're basically paying launch 3DS prices at a minimum.
