>But what about...If it's not on PC, then I really don't care. Consoles aren't doing anything interesting with hardware anymore and the games aren't doing anything special either. I also don't care enough about Mario and Zelda anymore to have much desire to buy a console for them. I never cared enough for PlayStation exclusives at any point (including PS1). PC is great with Steam, GOG, emulation, itch.io among others. Mix that with older and retro consoles and there is no need for anything more.
Tl;dr if the game isn't on PC, it basically doesn't exist in my view. So bringing games to PC day and date (not waiting 6 months or a year after console exclusivity giving me time to no longer care about it or learn the issues and problems of the games) means more opportunity to make some money.

nice try op
I think there are multiple reasons why the Xbox may not be selling as many units these days but one of them which is a smaller reason but one I find more fun to talk to is the brand aesthetic. I think that if Xbox tried to take a step or two back into the direction they had with the Xbox 360 console and UI aesthetic or even the original Xbox it would help make the console more interesting. There is a severe lack of games in consoles today and it would help if your console went back to looking like a cool gaming machine and stopped looking like yet another generic router or server tower or some other device. really since the invention of the Nintendo Wii which looked like it was something you bought from an Apple Store every console has looked incredibly boring. they are all too minimalistic and I know part of what makes me excited about buying a console or even seeing a new console was in the past seeing what it looked like.
Anyway getting back to UI a lot of consoles were fun to use in the past even just going around the dashboard and through menus opening up messages from people or just looking through the marketplace. Lots of people still miss the old Xbox 360 blades interface. and while we will never get something as abstract as the GameCube UI or the original Xbox UI those were a big part of what gave the consoles a charm that you couldn’t get from a PC. It reminded you that you were using a dedicated gaming machine. The Xbox one x interface really feels like I’m on a windows machine and everything looks boring and ugly and low effort.
Of companies started to experiment more with making consoles look like consoles again and making unique fun UI again I think that would already be one step to rebuilding a sense of brand loyalty or even interest in the console irrespective of the games that it has
>>714121302No one has been “over” physical games the issue is that in the current video game ecosystem there isn’t any advantage to having a physical copy.
Too many games today ship unfinished and require patches during the first month to play properly. So you need an internet connection to do that. At that point you may as well just get the digital version because of the servers go down you can’t patch the physical version to make it not shit.
If you are playing an older video game that just fucking works from an older generation of console you just put the disc in and it simply works. You do not have to install the bloated game onto your hard drive either it just fucking works. If you buy a physical game today you have to install it onto your hard drive so at that point half of the appeal of the physical version is gone because you can do the same thing downloading it and deleting it to play different things which you will have to do with the disc version also which you shouldn’t need too.
This is why I basically only play older games because it’s just a better experience and less of a headache.
>>714120152Well its a good thing that the soon to be dead xbox brand is the one doing it then.
>>714126214>Consoles aren't doing anything interesting with hardware anymore and the games aren't doing anything special either.I was hoping Nintendo would try VR or literally anything interesting. Some of you are thinking like dinosaurs about console generations.
If someone doesn’t upgrade to the latest 5000 series Nvidia GPU, but happily enjoy their 2000 series it doesn’t mean that they’ll never upgrade. Plus, many great games are still being released for PS4 in 2025. PS4 and PS5 are the same platform with different features and benefits, but they’re compatible with each other.
Do you really think the millions of people still actively using PS4 are going to decide to drop $2500 on a gaming pc? By that standard $1000 for a PS6 is a steal. Many will just get a cheap used PS5 for $250.
Gamepass was the attempted kill shot on Sony to bring people to Xbox (and to an extent pc). Back to the drawing board, Microsoft. I don’t know what they’ll do, but what they’re doing now ain’t working.
>>714118682 (OP)You have no fucking clue how much I wish we got cool hardware still.
The PS3 taking advantage of IBM's mainframe knowledge to make a top of the line system at the time was probably the last cool thing the industry did, and even then it was mid because most devs were lost in the fucking sauce on how to use it.
>>714137401>Do you really think the millions of people still actively using PS4 are going to decide to drop $2500 on a gaming pc?In third world brownistan? Playing on PC will chang ein meaning anyways, it already has, it'll just be streaming, $500 shit boxes, and so on. >>714138064Xbox is, was and always will be a vanity brand. Microsoft has enough money to piss away on the venture and not care all that much.
>>714137585If PS6 had the ability to do 4k 120hz with upscaling/framegen for AAA games, had backwards compatibility to PS4 (with maybe graphical enhancements here and there), and PS3 emulation it would totally be worth $1000.
Every zoomer thinks they’re going to become a millionaire through streaming. I knew people who would spend $10k on camera equipment with the intention of being the next James Cameron only to shoot a few weddings a year and break right under even. Seems like a similar money pit to me.
>>714138064>I don't even understand why Xbox exists when PC has been around since the beginningFrom everything I've read and watched about Xbox and PlayStation history, Xbox was more of a reaction to PlayStation jumping in and dominating Nintendo and SEGA in embarrassing fashion on their first go. There was also a worry that the PlayStation would eat into PC sales as the console market was growing and becoming more and more mainstream thanks to PlayStation dominance and guidance, so the (Direct) Xbox was made because Sony did so well with the PS1 (and was expected to do well with the PS2) and Xbox knew they couldn't just let that go without them at least giving it a try themselves.

>>714139620>Jewtendo will become a tablet brand for 5 year olds.I feel like kids are less and less interested in Nintendo. They are fine with phones and tablets then they graduate to PCs overtime. Not saying kids don't like Nintendo anymore, but that it seems like there's a shift going on and more people who are huge Nintendo fans are older individuals while the kids don't really care as long as they can play the game their friends all have.
>>714139842With the death of PlayStation and Xbox, kids may go back to Nintendo, it's up to parents for that. Kids act out, give them a Switch with a game library that's all digital that way they can pick and choose what they want to play. They grow up, they upgrade to a Steam Deck which allows more options.
>>714121860>>714126991The trick with Xbox live is that it was actually good, not worth having to pay on top of your internet, but in comparison to its free competitors it had better netcode and stability with less latency.
There was a reason every multiplayer based genre barring stuff like RTS games had its biggest community on the 360.
And because of that they baited people in to get bent over a barrel.
Gamepass lacks any reason to use it in comparison to the alternative.
>>714140441>With the death of PlayStation and Xbox, kids may go back to Nintendo, it's up to parents for thatExactly why I think we'll see more kids grow up as PC kids or grow into PC teens and adults. They'll just play whatever is on their phones and ipads for now and keep asking for the next phone or ipad. They'll have a Nintendo console in their house, but they won't play it NEARLY as much as we did growing up. Instead they'll just use their phone or tablet for most of their playtime. Then they'll eventually just keep going down that pathway until they get a laptop or a desktop PC. Or at least that's my prediction. Nintendo isn't going anywhere, but the PC/Mobile/Cloud stuff is going to be where the money and growth is.

Hot take: I think GamePass would be a lot more profitable atm if Xbox had a pro console like the ps5 pro on the market. A machine that can do 60fps without sacrificing quality. Personally I’m waiting until their next-gen console and then I will go heavy with GamePass. Until then I have a base PS5, and I got the Switch 2.

>>714145935Yeah, no hardware that will only be sold in their online store for $1000. Is the Xbox version of the Surface Line with no form of subsidizing. Your shilling doesn't work and this thing will get less games than any Xbox that came before it because it's Windows it's dead on arrival since most developers will just put their PC games on Steam. Why would anyone get this when they can get a Steam Deck 2 for like $500 or $550, why bother with this if you already have a PC. It's pathetic that you Xbots have resorted to using a third party store as a selling point because the Xbox PC Store is so shit. If Microsoft still had exclusives, maybe just MAYBE this thing would have sold, but it's going to flop out the gate.
>>714118682 (OP)Consoles died in 2009. There is no reason to buy a console in the year 2025 when they're just worse PCs.
>>714118913>A subscription serviceSubscription services have never been a viable business model, they are mostly Ponzi schemes.
>Oh we're not profitable, but look at how many new users we have>Oh we have so many users, don't look at our constantly escalating running costs>Oh we can definitely turn a profit if we remove the entire reason that we have a userbase>Wah, our decline in users is because of piracy, not because our value proposition is now infinitely worse
why would I give a shit about xbox or playstation or nintendo or anything of that. they're just platforms. I don't care about the platform itself, I just like playing good games
>>714146251*is going to sell well at all.
>>714146251You're not getting it are you. It will be cheaper than a non Xbox gaming PC that has the same performance. It might not be $500 but that doesn't matter as long as it's CHEAPER than getting a no name prebuilt or building your own. Even if it's only 25% cheaper or whatever.
>you laughed at xbox
still do
>you killed xbox
good riddance
>now you will pay 1000$ for a ps6
no i think i will laugh at them as well when it releases with zero games
>>714123353because legal shit gets involved and good games just disappear forever or are only accessible in certain countries and other shit like that. The same stuff that happens with netflix.
You liked that game? Too bad. contract ran out and now you will never play it again.
>>714146401If you like a game THAT much you can just fucking buy it retard, and also first party games never disappear, Microsoft owns like three quarters of the studios out there so that's a lot of games.
remember when they said the series x would get incremental hardware upgrades like a pc and was designed to be easily disassembled for this purpose?
pepperidge farm remembers.
>>714134023Nintendo has been making the same 5 games with slightly improved graphics for 50 years and you retards keep slurping it up
>>714118682 (OP)No I'll just use a PC and get all Xbox products. This isn't hard to understand
>>714146332That's impossible because they can't subsidize this. They were only able to before because their consoles was locked to one ecosystem that they owned and was able to use Xbox Live and controller sales to subsidize the cost along with their own Xbox Store since you couldn't get those games anywhere else. How can you still do this with no online paywalls and multiple third party stores OUTSIDE of the Microsoft Store in the Desktop? You can't, Valve can subsidize the Steam Deck because everyone uses their store, nobody uses Microsoft's store and people only use Windows because they have to, not because they want to.
>>714146540Microsoft will subsidize it because they will be banking on the console being a vehicle for game pass subscriptions
>>714146461You have a weak imagination, and also weak pattern recognition skills. The console market is moving entirely towards games as a service. You won't be buying shit. And even when you do you won't own it, so when they lose the legal right to provide it then it won't be yours anymore, because it never was in the first place
never underestimate how crafty the legal bastards are at finding new ways to fuck you harder while taking more of your money
>>714129457it gets even better, nintendo already did this twice before with the wii u and the new nintendo 3DS, microsoft saw both these things and decided they wanted a cut of that pie
>>714146638>schizophrenic speculationNah I think I'll just pay for game pass and play some games lol
>>714146503They make fun video games, something Sony and Microsoft stopped doing years ago for either multiplayer slop or movie slop. I do question what will Sony do when the PlayStation dies, they really don't have anything that can save them as a third party. Astro Bot is something they're not planning to do more of but instead just use it for hardware tech demos.
>>714146332There are two consoles (Switch, PS5). There are prebuilt PC OEMs. Please look up the prices on a 24GB VRAM prebuilt. When Xbox PC hybrid comes out its competing with all those. And it'll cost over $1000 because Steam purchases don't benefit Xbox and Steam free online don't benefit Xbox.
What you are imagining is a scenario in which a $1,500 PC will cost you $499 with no way of Microsoft earning money ruin Steam Store or online subscriptions. The fact I have to explain it to you this way tells me you're a third worlder who has no grasp of economics.
>>714146754The current situation was called schizo predictions just 5-10 years ago, dumbass
people would have called you insane if you said there would ever be a digital only console, or any of the many other things. you're a fucking retard and you're gonna get milked
>>714146787>What you are imagining is a scenario in which a $1,500 PC will cost you $499 I literally wrote it might only be 25% cheaper, are you illiterate?
>>714146607That's literally impossible now, they don't care about the console or Game Pass anymore. This
>>714143362 is an indication that they're only thinking about profitability and publishing, the hell with everything else. Satya gave signs of them selling the next Xbox at a profit, not at a loss. The next gen Xbox console will serve as a reference device for OEMs. Look at the bright side, at least Microsoft is more prepared for being a third party publisher over Sony. They may just quit and go full manga and anime.
>>714146638>The console market is moving entirely towards games as a serviceGiven how much Game Pass and Sony's live-service push has been a massive failure for both, I'm pretty sure you're full of shit.
I think the next Xbox is more likely to be a beefed up streaming stick than a $1500 gaming pc killer. Look at what they learned from the series s
>>714118682 (OP)xbox made a laughingstock of itself and lead it's own death, don't point fingers at me
>>714118682 (OP)>interview with some person that doesn't work at Microsoft anymore>headline deliberately frames it like it's an official statement from Xbox themselves
>>714147232>person that worked on Xbox before it went to shit>confirms what we already believed that Xbox went to shit and became corporate as soon as Peter Moore left>knows that the old Xbox team loved hardware and has worked at Microsoft long-enough to see the writing on the wall when Microsoft's starts doing thisIt's like you shills don't even remember how the Windows Phone died.
