What's your favorite Danganronpa?

For me? Is Happy Trigger Havoc!

Danganronpa 2, and I've give it a 6.5/10
DR1's a solid 4/10.

Is it just me or is Celeste kinda hot?

Back when I first finished the games my ranking was 2>1>V3 but over time my opinion flipped to V3>1>2. 1 and 2 could honestly switch places depending on how I’m feeling but 1’s ending is better so it’s usually higher. I never saw the 3 anime though because everyone says it’s shit, but I imagine that’d take the bottom spot if I saw it.

HL > DR1 > DR2 > UDG > V3 = RC > DR3

I both like what a wild ride each game is but found it getting stupider and stupider with the plot twists a little tiring. The cases are best in 1 and get gradually worse, with exception of 1-5 being cool on paper but akward in execution (see "x to feel like y" argument below), 2-3 where they gave up on writing it, and 3-v3 for not really being good but having one of the neatest end reveals.
The first game did the atmosphere the best as the characters acted way more like 16/17 year olds trapped in a horrific situation, I think they had to write out a lot of the shock and denial in 2 and v3 since the audiance was already fsmiliar with the concept and they didn't want to tread old ground. There's something to be said about "we wrote X to feel like Y because we wanted you to think that for narrative reasons" but that doesn't stop v3's characters from feeling like the most flanderized anime cast a DR game can have. Like most say you don't actually write annoying people because your audiance can genuinley be annoyed, and same with making me think these characters are 2 dimensional and silly.
The soundtracks in the games only get better with each installment. Any game's Nonstop Debate 2 track, Monomi's theme, v3's Closing Argument theme, Scurm Debate, and the overworld themes in UDG are earmworms of the highest caliber.
The minigames and OST only get better with each game. I'm very glad they at least made Hangman's Gambit more bearable in v3 but my god the Mind Mine game is straight garbage.
On paper I should find Hifumi funny, I want to like hon as a silly parody charicticture, but it's impossible, everything he says is too grating. Tsumugi needed to have a smidge more of Toko's femcell bitterness and she'd be the perfect otaku character. I love Nagito, and even though Kokichi was a different character I know they tried to do the wild card thing with him and it didn't hit the same.
