Please tell me you're not still overclocking your PC components..

there's too little headroom as opposed to a decade ago, and i despise dealing with the instability.

Its just tedious and pointless to deal with, for an "improvement" that just isnt noticeable. You want higher performance? buy better components.

GPUs still can gain 10% performance with a few minutes of testing with afterburner, and overclocking on AMD cpus is less like overclocking and more like optimisation that saves power/heat and might also get you some small gains

Anything that could be decently overclocked a decade ago is getting binned extremely hard now. There's just no point to bother.

no, it got too tedious and every cpu has had the base frequency and boost frequency factory oc shit for ages anyway. besides cpu makes got wise to it and bin the really good shit to be hideously expensive. if anything i'll undervolt a little.

>>714123058 (OP)
no, I just undervolt
Anonymous No.714123929 [Report]
>>714123573
In both cases you only need to undervolt to get most of the extra performance. There's no need to up the power.

This.
Back in the day you could get double digits performance increases easily. Now its negletable.

Overclocking is a meme created by Jews so you burn up your CPU early and have to buy a new one.
Only retards overclock.

Every AIB partner overclock some of their cards.

I do OC but I no longer solder resistors and potentiometers to my motherboard to increase the voltages as I did in the 90s. I only use the EXPO for the RAM and PBO + CO per CCD for the CPU and the OC scanner of MSI anusburner for the GPU. No manual tinkering with subtimings, no autistic hunting for the last frame.

I could OC my AMD Duron from 600 MHz to 1150 MHz on an Abit KT7 with help of a resistor that I soldered on the mobo to increase the VCore beyond all reason. For cooling I used the first Heatkiller® water block that became available in Germany from Watercool™ in 1999 and the legendary Eheim aquarium pump with a custom made reservoir and an industrial radiator with thick push-pull fans.

You can basically turn on PBO and stop there, I got ~4.5k extra in cinnebench, but like people say I don't actually notice this performance in anything day to day.

It always seemed like a dumb idea to me. Sacrificing component longevity just to squeeze out a little more performance you don't need.
Anonymous No.714129878 [Report]
>>714129481
Every modern CPU overclocks itself, all that happened was CPU makers took away the control and made it algorithmic.

You should overclock your graphics card
Anonymous No.714130013 [Report]
>>714128702
Nobody does a base overclock anymore. Not sure what Intel owners do these days, but on AMD, everyone uses PBO.
>>714129481
Unless you plan to keep a CPU for well over a decade, it doesn't hurt longevity enough to matter.
Even then, the degradation just means you can't hit your original overclock anymore and you have to drop down to stock.
My Ryzen 1700X still works and it has still been pushed right up to its limit since 2017.

Never done it, never will. I don't even tax my system to the max anyway, I'd rather play on slightly lower settings than put extra wear on my GPU. I almost never let my GPU utilization go above 60%. Only recent game where I didn't have much of a choice was MH Wilds, the piece of shit.

I haven't overclocked shit in maybe a decade. The performance gains are minimal and since I use my hardware for 5-10 years I value total life a lot more than getting 5 more FPS. I actually undervolt my video card so it's not as hard on it when I'm making AI smut

Have you tried using hardware less than 10 years old? Modern shit can barely oc because it has ai meme boost which automatically runs it at the highest possible frequency without pushing voltage and temp to LN2 levels.
