Depends on your companions, ME1 as this weird morality system where one of your companions need to advocate for paragon and the other one for renegade

Dumb example. Garrus advocates killing them if you have Kaidan or Liara, maybe Tali as well.
ME1 has to have the angel/devil on your shoulder approach. It goes Kaidan > Liara > Tali > Garrus > Ashley > Wrex from Paragon to Renegade, though Garrus and Tali might be swapped.
From a character standpoint Garrus would absolutely call for leaving the Council. Not just cause fuck them, but because he's a turian and it's the stronger strategic approach.

It's not about the Council. That ship has a crew of ten thousand (saving it loses seven thousand Alliance personnel) and it was carrying a large amount of civilian evacuees on top of that. On top of that, saving the single biggest and most advanced warship in the galaxy gives you a leg-up in the coming war.

That's just because renegade in ME1 is the best, since you are actually roleplaying a SPECTRE.
>I'm here to put hyper-velocity rounds through the heads of bad guys.
>It's not the severity of punishment that deters crime, it's the certainty.
>That makes you a criminal. I can kill criminals.
>You won't look so smug with a hole in your head.
>I'm feeling a hell of a lot better than he is.
>all the Council disconnect stuff
For femshep specifically though, ME1 still has her giving a regular voice performance instead of raspy tryhard chainsmoking femshep from ME2.
God I love ME1. Hate the direction the series went after it.

It's tough to evaluate 2 because they basically destroy everything about the setting and the main story of the series, but then immediately put that catastrophic wreck on hold and do a bunch of side stuff for 20 hours. Some of that side stuff is really cool but at some point they had to address the steaming pile of shit in the room and that ended up being 3.

You're preaching to the choir. I don't mind the raspy chain smoking femshep in 2 though, it fits the fallen / dark night of soul act 2 was going for. It doesn't really work in the end, but at least they tried.

protip: ignoring the renegade interrupt when the merc recruiter mistakes you for a stripper is way colder than the pistol-as-a-dick retort. You just stare the guy down until he awkwardly moves on.
Also, not kicking the eclipse merc through the skyscraper window is pretty good too.

It's gonna be real bad bro. Like, Veilguard kill the series bad. Hopefully EA will take BioWare out back afterwards.
My hopes were for a First Contact War prequel, with characters like Anderson, TIM, Ashley's grandfather, Saren and his brother etc to tide things over, then a lower stakes game in the Terminus Systems. Maybe a heist type of thing.
Instead... screencap this: Shepard is coming back as a robot with memories from their time in the geth consensus, with the likely big universal threat coming from Andromeda. Likely the race thar disappeared in that game, can't remember the name

ME1 feels like a game made by sci-fi fans.
ME2 feels like a game made by sci-fi fans being forced by corporate to streamline it for the mainstream audience.
ME3 feels like a game made by whoever the fuck was left over because everyone else who made the series special left after getting pissed off about how they got treated with ME2.
MEA feels like a fat tumblrina found the leftover scraps of the series and drew doodles all over it.

ME aliens had to use human rigging, for the most part. The solution to make things more "alien" was, in their words, to "add stuff on the back"
In-game, turians have an exoskeleton to protect from solar, cosmic, and UV rays as Palaven is weak to them. According to Garrus it's comprised of Thulium.

We don't but these are official anatomical concepts. The illustration was done for the first Mass Effect. While the 3d render was made during Andromeda's development. For some reason it was never used in the actual game. I wonder if they did intend to have Vetra in an explicit romance scene at first. Before ultimately deciding to do a fade to black like with most alien romance options in this series.

Absolutely, powers in ME1 are so fun, and the first game's combat is honestly kind of underrated. Not a fan of "sit and wait" cover shooting. I always loved vanguard because the game is clearly set up as a cover shooter, but you can just say "nah fuck that" and zoom around the stage and get right in enemies faces. Meanwhile IIRC a lot of other powers in the game were nerfed vs ME1 since the powers don't do anything until shields/barriers are stripped.

So basically I guess what I'm asking is if any of the other ME2 classes allow you to be proactive and aggressive rather than always needing to hide and wait

I haven't played it myself but one thing that ticked me off was them adding more waist high cover in the levels. I dunno what the point of that even is, like it was never a problem that needed to be fixed about the OG game and strikes me as something that was done because the devs weren't even familiar with the combat system of the game they were remastering.

There is such an extensive ME3 modding scene, because the base game is shit, but EGM, Miranda Restored (I think that's what it's called), MEHEM and anything that catches your eye for gameplay tweaks, sure.

ALOT/MEUITM is the big triumph of the old ME1 modding community, two mods that are built to work together. Also ME1 Recalibrated for the bugfixing side and FemShep Appearance Consistency Project if you want a good take on her "canon" appearance.
>>714139954
I'm pretty sure ALOT/MEUITM includes Merlin, or if not then I definitely remember them recommending it.

Alternatively if you want a super vanilla like experience with fixes to the OG port, you only need to fix a couple things: install a fixed Garrus face texture, and install it through the ALOT installer so it auto-fixes the texture file size in the ini files, and a higher resolution film grain texture (if you use film grain)

ME1 combat gets flak as a big 360 title because you had to pause the game to use powers on controller. I'm jealous PC users got to experience it essentially like ME2 combat by just pointing at dudes and launching/debuffing them. The ME1 controls are absolutely baffling. I never realized this until now because in the past I placed with KB/M, and when I recently played through the remaster, I used my living room PC and used a controller from the couch. Ever since back in the day, /v/ always told me even ME1 was "consolized", so I figured it was designed to work just fine with a controller

Like hell it is, the gamepad controls make no sense at all. D-pad is for useless squad commands. Dedicated buttons for grenades and medkits. Press select to holster your weapon for some reason. And no controller remapping options either (yeah I know you can get these issues with steaminput but then your menu controls are gonna be all fucked up instead). Absolutely no idea what they were thinking with the controls. Anyone who says it was designed for consoles is just flat out wrong, it's basically KOTOR with real-time shooting instead of dice rolls

See this is one of my problems with ME2, I used to have zero worry about playing Soldier in ME1 because I got the four weapon abilities AND my squadmates' full fuckin suite of powers to fuck shit up with.
But ME2 is built around you being a one man army who occasionally pops one of the very few squad powers (usually Overload or Warp because of the shields spam on Insanity).

True, one of the things I don't like about how ME2 handled things is effectively nerfing tech/biotic skills because many of them don't have a major effect until shields are gone. And if the opponent is down to their naked health bar... they're basically already dead anyway. Not like ME1 where it didn't matter if an enemy had full shields, if you used singularity, their ass was still getting spun around in the air.

Too be fair, bioware kinda backed themselves into a corner. Realistically the different actions taken in ME1 would have such drastic branching butterfly effects on the sequels, that by the time the player got to ME3, the entire plot in itself would be completely different from one person's save to another. And it just wouldn't be realistic for the devs to make such massive departures. It was inevitable that the end result would be "choices" that only offer superficial flavor and not much actual impact on ultimate outcomes. It's kinda surprising how much can actually be different come ME3 based on actions in the previous 2, R/G/B ending notwithstanding.

IIRC sway was added to PC controls to compensate. Meanwhile gamepad has significant auto-aim. This was pretty standard for xbox/PC ports at the time. I remember the PC ports of gears of war and halo 2 having downright comical recoil added when playing with KB/M that wasn't present if you chose to plug in a gamepad, for instance.

Salarians did nothing wrong. Genophage was the most ethical and empathetic solution to the Krogan Question. Krogan sympathizers retort "well you shouldn't have uplifted them!" and while that might be true, a mistake made thousands of years ago should not condemn the galaxy to destruction at the hands of a plague of Krogan outbreeding the rest of the galaxy and bringing it to ruin. The games treat curing the genophage as the moral thing to do, but it would be disastrous for everyone.

Krogan aren't that hard to kill if you know how to move. the galaxy is just full of lazy species that camp in combat and they didn't want to deal with an aggro'd species.

The Council is like a step above the UN. Those aren't the leaders of their respective races. Especially the Asari who, like humans, have dozens of governments operating under a shared banner but would balk at any one voice declaring itself the only leader.

I think it's slightly different. The Council/Councilors can dictate laws on say, Dekuuna, or Kahje as it relates to galactic affairs, and Irune is just fully under turian control, but the council doesn't really have any influence on their respective home systems.

It is dumb but that is just the retarded morality system the devs decided to do
Garrus absolutely would support sacrificing the council in order to win. He is Turian after all.

I got the Refusal ending in my most recent playthrough without intending to. My Shep was kinda schizo who couldn't commit to paragon/renegade and just went off gut/mood to everything. Then he decided to be pissy with the Starchild and kept saying "nah" to all the options and then the game just ended with all life in the universe getting boliterated. Kinda annoyed because I thought I would have gotten to shoot him at least. One day I'll force myself to go through with Synthesis ending

ME3 was the best multiplayer wave/horde shooter ever made.
Go play it and have fun.
Shame they never got around to the campaign and left ME2 on a cliffhanger, but honestly the pricetag was still worth it, this was an absolute blast for like 100hrs.

Just beat 1 tonight. I'm afraid I'm going to be like you "1 is the best one" freaks but I honestly didn't have a problem with what I've heard described by many other people as "jank". I became a Mako pro by the end of my playthrough, I enjoyed running around with my sledgehammer round shotgun and explosive round pistol, solving the problems of the galaxy with my crew. It's unforgivable the downward trend the series took but I hope I at least enjoy ME2

The scorn he has in his voice if you let the Council die genuinely hurt me a little. He never refers to you as 'human' in a shitty way like that at any other point in the series. That's shit other aliens do, not my boy Garrus..

>>714128519
>bring Kaidan and Liara with me to fight Saren
>it's actually Kaidan that advocates for the Alliance to save the Council, not Liara

And that's why I always save Kaidan. I'm mostly a Paragon kind of player. When I die in ME3, he's the human Spectre the galaxy needs.

Yes I know he tries to suck my dick we don't talk about that.

The refusal ending is great if you spend all of ME3, and most of ME2, destroying anything in the world that reminds you how much better ME1 is. Then you get to the end of the trilogy and refuse to take part in an of its shitty endings. Especially the extended edition ones, which I think are worse.
