In essence, you literally cannot say "I beat the game" if you used a companion because by definition, it is inaccurate. You definitely saw the credits, but it wasn't through your sole effort alone that made you reach the credits. You have to give your summons credit as well. Not acknowledging the NPC summon after dragging them into the fight is more validation-seeking than simply not summoning them at all.
