Yes, I have over 1000 games on Steam so it is helpful to organize them. They are mostly just "Games I am currently playing or planning on playing soon" and "games I am done with." I also have a few other themed categories and one for games I got in bundles but I am not really interested in playing. The rest are uncategorized.
