>>714134601 (OP) Mania is in a weird spot. It has so much there for nerds who have been playing Sonic their entire lives, but it's also a very easy game if you've ever played Sonic before. Encore mode could have helped, but didn't.

>>714134601 (OP) Shitty level design. The only good parts are straight up lifted from other better Sonic games.
S3&K is the better game by virtue of it being 100% original + Hyper Sonic. But Mania has a lot of modern-day QoL and optimizations, and its few original zones are among the best out of all classic games. Both are amazing.

>>714134601 (OP) It would've been much better is the levels were shorter or if they just got rid of the timer.

>>714134601 (OP) >extensive reuse of level design from prior games >bosses are lackluster, worse than any of the old classics >should have toned down the automation I don't think Mania is better than any of the mainline Genesis games. I might even say Advance 1 is better than Mania and is the best 2D Sonic game post 3&K.
The best sonic games are the first one on the Master System, and the first 2 on megadrive.
None of the others are worth playing.

>>714134601 (OP) I'd say it plays the best and is objectively the most fun, even if I do prefer CD's surreal weirdness I have zero interest in Encore Mode and I do not care about extra two playable literal whos whatsoever

>>714134601 (OP) I mean it's up there. Encore Mode could've done more than just character switching and (mostly) stage palette changes but whatever.
