I think there's a fundamental disconnect between Warcraft as a rule-of-cool fantasy franchise that is and always has been Legally Distinct Warhammer Fantasy After A Licensed Game Deal Fell Through and the players that take it 100% seriously and discuss its lore that's all written off the cuff with no real regard for anything later. The vast, vast, vast majority of people familiar with Warcraft are familiar with it because of WoW, which was already referencing The Simpsons early in its lifespan.

This isn’t true though. There was an attempt between the novels, Warcraft II, Warcraft III and the RPG’s to weave a cohesive world together. Most of it was carefully planned and the major retcons started appearing with the MMO.

The Trollbanes fought on the side of the Alliance in the Fourth War and managed to kick the Orcs out of the Arathi Highlands and liberate Stromgarde once again. By The War Within however everyone became friends for no reason, but a small group of Humans made up of Scarlet Crusade remnants (how are they even around anymore???) and others are pissed off because they do not understand why they'd give up over half of their homeland to invading foreigners. They're led by Karen Trollbane. Faerin, the black amputee and also last of the line of Lothar (lmao) and the new main character rocks up and kicks their racist asses out of Stromgarde and is hailed a hero and ~leader~. She's about to kill Karen, but King Danath Trollbane dives in the way and begs her not to because "peace and love and tolerance" is the Trollbane way. Which it never has been. This dude also fought during the Horde invasion in the second war which ruined his homeland beyond repair and if anything should be venomously nationalistic himself but I guess he's just a cuck now. Also he'll 100% make Faerin his heir since he just exiled Karen.

It's something that plagues modern fantasy in general where people don't want epic high fantasy adventures fighting evil villains and stuff anymore. They want characters and societies that are relatable and just like the modern world except with a light coating of fantasy and magic that replaces technology.

Even in Warcraft you have Gnomes with their steam powered tech, but here they're forgetting that and he has some kind of magic camera instead because they're unconcerned with how top of the line technology in their medieval world would realistically function when you can just have a fucking magic camera that is no different that a real life one.
