The house usually makes 5% even when YOU win at poker retard. for black jack they are at about a 2% advantage with casino rules even if you are playing PERFECTLY which people often arent.
they have significantly more than a 0.1% advantage because they never play standard rules. they arent retarded.

I have to disagree. Back in my uni days, I used to partake in a smaller $50 buy-in poker tournaments twice a month and always the same few dudes ended up in the final table. Now there were usually three to four tables worth of players so we're not talking about some crazy tournament here but I sure as hell never won that shit and I would've called myself intermediate level player back then.

Anyone telling you the game isn't luck based is a stupid retard. If you need to do any risk management (which poker is 99% of the time fold fold fold and pretend to play once in a while to throw people at the table off, pretty similar to mahjong) then by definition your game is luck based. Nothing makes poker players seethe more than the new guy who plays completely "off meta" and wins because he got lucky, didn't thought about ranges beyond "my hand is likely good" and stops there. It doesn't fit their narrative. Reminds me of cryptocucks and stock brokies. Sure, in the long run when you're a decrepit 60 y.o boomer you kept a positive balance but you barely gained anything other than wasted time

People playing bad also pisses them off because for every poker "pro", there's a dozen fish who will take every bait and go all-in without reason. These pros have to not only beat the other pros, but beat some literal who that's got a massive chip stack because in a sea of retards, one of them is going to luck out. 99 of these fish will drop out after the first round but that's not what matters.
They try to cope and seethe about how it's actually more about skill but like you said, the skill is just folding 80% of hands. Poker is a retarded "sport", I'd rather watch nascar over it.

I'd say Poker is actually a pretty high skill ceiling game, there's alot more to the game than meets the eye. If it was luck then some rando guys would show up at tournaments and win them but that happened only once and the guy was secretly very good and turned pro.

All in Abyss is okay. Download it if you enjoy danganronpa and having RPG powers to cheat more than poker gameplay. It's a shame, I liked the anime aesthetics but dialogue, gameplay or even story aren't that great. Also one character meets an unfair fate all things considering. It's fun to battle against NPCs without using skills, but their AIs is easily exploitable. If this was instead a traditional poker multiplayer game like mahjong soul they would be billionaires already

What is it with brainlets and risk management games that they think its somehow no longer strategic. Its the same shit with x-com. Yeah, sometimes you miss a 90% shot and sometimes you hit a 30%, that's how numbers work the point is to put yourself in situations where the former happening doesn't kill you and the latter happening isn't necessary to survive

Luck is getting double aces. Skill is convincing the others through your actions that you have shit/bluffing/low-tier card so that they don't fold and gamble more money you can then take.

Its like Chess, in that its such an ubiquitous game thats terms are used in common language, that you are considered at least mildly retarded if you cant even figure out the rules.

The entire reason poker fell off from where it was decades ago, which is doubly noteworthy due to the massive boom in the gambling industry as a whole, is because itโ€™s TOO skill based

Itโ€™s not a game where an amateur can win. They will lose. Again and again and again and again and again.

I don't think that's what killed online poker though. It's always had a fair amount of sharks that would prey on bad players but the bad players still had enough fun that they kept coming back. What killed it for good was the rise of bots.

Poker is the only game in a casino the house doesn't play, anon. They just take a cut of every pot. That's why it has such better odds than everything else if you know what you're doing, the casino only cares that people play, they have no horse in the race they just charge admission

because players play against each other while the dealer takes 2 to 4% on pots and tips from players in cash game/tournament poker, unless it's a variant like Ultimate/bonus THP which has you play against the house

Poker is one of the only gambling games with actual skill involved. Sure, you can lose even if you play well because of bad luck, but your win rate and your payout rate overall should be higher for skillful players than the one of worse players.

Its blackjack they get uppity if you start doing too well
