I was storing chemicals and guns in a closet on the second level and now it takes like 10 minutes to load that floor
I didn't even store that much

That sounds weird. But I've never stored a bunch of bullshit somewhere so I dunno if that makes the levels load like shit or not.

I actually did the exact same thing on the Engineering deck, in a closet near the elevator, and I never had any problems with loading times. I was super autistic about hoarding everything in the game too so I'm surprised to hear this. This was 10+ years ago on the original version of the game, although the PC I was using wasn't very good, didn't even have a dedicated GPU as far as I can rememeber.

That's definitely a Unity-tier moment. The remaster's engine seems to choke if you have more than 30 objects crammed in a tight space, especially crap with physics or dynamic lighting. I had a similar thing happen after dumping all my spare turrets and mod kits in the MedSci morgue - game basically turned into a slideshow every time I walked in. Try spreading your stash out over a few rooms or jettison the excess into a crawlspace or something.
