Nothing has any impact anymore.
A "game" is simply the sum of its parts to people.
It's a bunch of characters moving around and a bunch of colors on a screen and the ability to push an analogue stick or push a key and actuate something.
Modern video games are lame on a level that goes down to the atomic level and goes upwards from there.
It's like being told to make a clay pot and producing a cylindrical object with 2 handles made out of play.
It's not made to produce something with "meaning"
People usually go to "What happened to games being FUN" when they complain about modern games, but it goes deeper than that.
The Last of Us I thought was "okay", but it felt like the artistic vision of a man that wanted to show you what was in his head.
The Last of Us 2 is a glossy, expensive, highly detailed manifestation of absolutely nothing. It's a corpse on strings.
This isn't a "feeling", nor is it a "light gripe", it is profoundly depressing.
A world where people are screaming at eachother and shit is on fire is still worth living in as long as people can have a good time and play video games together.
I don't mean to tie literally everything back to "politics" or "trannies", but I am absolutely of the belief that this is a byproduct of the woke mob.
However indirect it may be, when you create a world where people need to ask permission to have fun, they don't create fun. They go to "work" and try to design this thing that they've heard about but have never seen. Like a grown man trying to create a toy for children and what he creates is something with bright colors and elaborate graphics but it's just complete shit.
