So Edgeworth is basically Vergil of Ace Attorney, huh?

Vergil seeks power, Edgeworth already has it but starts the series wielding it improperly. His character arc is learning to use talents he's already honed for the right causes.

Eh, it's a weaker installment but I don't regard it on the same tier as the weakest installments of the entire series. There are definitely Ace Attorney games I enjoyed less.

It's kinda lame booking from his standpoint.
1-2 He lost
1-3 He lost
1-4 Wright saved him
1-5 Wright and Edgeworth unite against a common enemy
2-4 Wright loses because the odds are not on his side (for the first time)

I enjoyed Spirit of Justice and Investigations 1 less, but that's it. Blackquill is fun for a later prosecutor though.

Most shounen rival characters have to have their shit kicked in by the plucky "all I need is faith in myself/friends" scrub with no talent in order to kickstart their journey.

Ace Attorney Investigations almost suffers under the weight of his aptitude. He just barely feels like an interesting protagonist, mostly thanks the virtue conundrums he's faced with. His actual mystery-solving acumen is way too strong to be a worthy protagonist for such a game.

Edgyboo does work for the rival character getting his shit pushed in. He's not like Vegeta always craving a rematch, he learned his lesson from Phoenix and decided to reform his own side, hell, he barely sees Nick as a rival and more like a straight up friend.
But of course SoJ had to have the DLC case where everyone regresses into a dumbass.
